Did u try ATI-Tray-Tools, ATITool or ATI Overdrive?

I didn't really try yet to overclock my HIS, I mean its pretty fast out the box!

you know the bubble wrap (the big ones) that they included in the box, well I sorta enjoyed decimating those hehehhe. I hope they wont mind :)
Are you saying you sat there and popped them all one by one?

Your a bubble wrap serial killer! :p

The HIS X1950 Pro is probably the best of the bunch, however a number of people (including myself) got a batch of cards with a 'rattling' fan?, I sent mine back and the second HIS X1950 Pro I got is perfect, had it one month now and it meets my expectations 100%

If u don't wanna risk it then the Power-Colour and Sapphire Ultimate are good choices also. (owned the power-colour card but the HSF was too 'tall' to fit inside the case. . .

So there I am a few weeks ago chatting with my mate Javier Señor Warthog on the phone, he's the guy who told me about the x1950Pro back in December, anyway he's got the Sapphire x1950 Pro 256MB Vanilla edition and was proving to be a bit noisy for the old Warthog so I suggested he use a third-party HSF to hush up his system, in particular I pointed out the Arctic Cooling Accelero X2. I have some experience of this from using a Power-Colour x1950 Pro which comes with one of these coolers prefitted and found them to be really good (albeit too large for the build I was doing).

So the muncher of Chorizo called me up yesterday to pick my brain. He had ordered the Accelero X2 and replaced his stock cooler, big difference in sound but there was the small problem of his PC crashing if he played any game!! :o

We chatted on the phone and I explained to him some things that I had read here on these forums and he had a look a bit more closely at his old stock Sapphire heatsink, it seemes the Accelero X2 doesn't cover up all the stuff that the stock heatsink did, in particular the vrm? near where the power-plug is.

I spoke with him today and he seemed a bit more upbeat, turns out he's ordered a few of these from hong-kong. I'm quite suprised this 'Voltage Regulator Heat Spreader Module' doesn't come as standard with the Accelero X2? (I don't recall anything like this fitted to the power-colour card?).

Just thought I would let you guys know just in case you run into the same issue. if anyone has modded there card with an Accelero X2 abd it worked fine lemme know pls . . .

Ok now i am searching for normal psu. thx for answers. :)
What is a miniumum wats?
Hi there, you should really make a new thread (in General Hardware) regarding PSU questions, if you spend some time reading (or use the search key) you should find a lot of useful info :)

Hey all, just a quick note to say I sent my HIS x1950Pro back, the rattle sound started after a few weeks :(

Real shame that HIS released such an nice product and then and stuck a cheap fan on it!

Anyway in order that I can continue to use my PC I had to source a cheap silent card (cheap but not Turbo-cache cheap!)

Lol! :) Currently playing through the Original COD, 1280x1024, Max, 2xAA, 4xAF smooth as silk! :o

Oh well I enjoyed the x1950, not sure I will buy a HIS card again though!

Ah well just one final bump, should be some new ATI cards out in the next few days, hopefully there will be something nice in the £100-£130 price range, failing that I hope the X1950Pro gets a decent price cut, £75 new would be great!

so would it make sense?
Yes it would.

There are some new ATI cards coming out this very second so it will be worth checking out some feedback on those but a X1950Pro for under £100 is great value for money. Spend a bit more and get a X1950XT, any more than that and your into 8800GTS turf.

nVidia have the 8600GT cards out but I don't know much about them apart from they cost about £150 ish?

Last time I checked the X1950XT was a better bet than an nVidia 8600GT.

The res you are running is not too demanding but then again it depends what games you are wanting to play?
