Just went down to my local game store and reserved the Special Edition. I was gonna just get the regular version, but then he told me they were only getting one SE and nobody had reserved it. And, yes, he showed me the screen to prove it before anybody asks :)

The big daddy version? :p

File Planet downloader now says 25 minutes on the demo for me.

This doesn't mean it's released though does it? Just a check for availability right?

It's just a check. If you click on 'check now', it'll go back to 2 hours.
Though to be fair, it's usually once every 24 hours so it must be getting close or something for it to be changed to every 2 hours.

Actually quite strange. After about 2 minutes, it goes from 2 hours to 1 hour. Not had it do that before.

Well most likely means if anyone gets the pc version from a store early it will also have some kind of time release lockout.
It won't be the same time as Steam though as the retail versions don't require Steam and the cd-keys don't work with Steam either.

It'll probably be the same as the US version, it lets you play if the date is 21st August or over at the master server, so unless the EU versions connect to a different server in theory you should be able to play at sat 6am ish on the 24th, heck the EU versions might be available to play on the 21st.

Bioshock PC Demo will be out before 21st :D

Taken from 2K Forums:

Hello PC Gamers,

For all news regarding BioShock, be sure to visit the Cult of Rapture website.

WHEN WILL BIOSHOCK PC DEMO COME OUT?

Even though there is a BioShock Demo for the Xbox 360™, there are many PC fans wondering when their version will be coming out.

Rest assured, you will be playing the BioShock PC demo before BioShock's release date of August 21st. We are still going through the final stages of approval and will push the demo out as soon as possible. Just so everything is clear, the PC demo will not be coming out tonight.

Elizabeth will let you know where to get the demo as soon as it becomes available.

Thanks,
Jon

Worth the wait. I doubt the developers work those days.

Ive only actually played through the 360 version once, main reason being i HATE playing fps games on a pad with a vengeance. Feels more like im controlling a damn tank turret.

Hope it comes tomorrow. My 2900's need a workout :D

PC review, they played it on Dx10!

The PC version definitely outclasses the Xbox 360, mostly because of the ability to crank the resolution to 1920 x 1200. If you've got a Vista rig with a DX10 card, you can expect some heightened particle effects, crisper real-time shadows, and more dynamic water, but the game looks gorgeous regardless. On our gaming PC running a Core 2 Quad processor with a GeForce 8800 GTX, and 4 GB of RAM, it ran very well, with only a few occasions of seemingly random framerate hitches. We also couldn't find an option to switch between DX10 and DX9 modes, the game just seems to default to what's in your system, unlike Lost Planet.

Very impressive IMO.

1920x1200 playable in Dx10, that's gotta be a first. :D

on-line activation

i want to buy this game badly, the only thing stopping me from doing so is......
will i be able to give it to a relative after i have finished it ?
will on-line activation prevent me from doing so ?

Good news. Does anyone know whether this will be a Games for Windows title and have achievements too?
Nah it's Games for Windows but no Games for Windows Live.

May as well post the Games for Windows meaning for PC games;
* An "Easy Install" option that installs the title on your PC in the fewest possible steps and mouse clicks
* Compatibility with the Windows Vista Games Explorer (see below)
* Compatibility with the Xbox 360 controller (where applicable)
* Installs and runs properly on x64 versions of Windows Vista and is compatible with 64-bit processors (though the game itself can be 32-bit)
* Supports normal and widescreen resolutions, such as 4:3 aspect ratio (800 x 600, 1024 x 768), 16:9 aspect ratio (1280 x 720), and 16:10 aspect ratio (1152 x 720, 1280 x 800)
* Launching from Media Center (Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate have Media Center)
