Bioshock and Crysis are the Killzone 2's of PC gaming. Hype, hype, hype!
So? BioShock has had a string of great reviews and it hasn't even had that much hype until the reviews rolled in.

like you mention doom 3 thats hoe think bioshock is going to be. linear gameplay. can;t really compare to stuff like farcry with its vast out door areas.
BioShock is linear in a sense, every game is. Still you can travel around all the areas freely and there's gonna be lots to explore according to reviews.

Honestly how is Far Cry more open ended than BioShock? BioShock is a large city you can walk around freely, Far Cry didn't have that large levels, was nothing to explore in them either.

new hardware like the gtx can run vegas at high resolutions without much issues.

The reason Vegas demands a GTX class card to run well is because it's such a poor attempt to port to the PC that it only runs decent at higher res/settings. The developers just did not care for the PC gamer, they were only interested in getting a few more sales as has been seen by other ports like SC:DA.

I fail to see how you can not understand that game A (vegas) which is poorly developed for the PC is completely different from game B (bs) which has been developed with the PC in mind by a team dedicated to just that platform?

It boggles my mind how people can fail to understand something so simple and logical.

I can't run Vegas maxed with 4xAA @ 1440x900 on my GTX, it dips to the 20's often.

Worked at 30-40 FPS average on my 7900GTO though.

I had a 512MB 7950GT at the time and vegas ran at around 20-30fps at 1680x1050 with the settings up - I call that very poor performance especially as that was when not much was going on so as soon as you threw a granny the whole thing went to STALKER levels of performance (low 10s and even single digit fps)

It's about time a developer came and released a PC title worthy of having the platform "PC" in its listing but not only that, a developer that has made a cross platform game that has received every review score at or above 9/10 & 90/100 & above 94%.

After Bioshock other PC game developers will be in for a shock because the trout they release to us is going to be constantly marked against Bioshock - I can see Ubisoft/EA etc having a lot of traffic on their forums about titles that just do not meet expectations of a PC gamer anymore because if Bioshock can look, run and feel so good then why can't the other developer's games?

Heh, I'm looking forward to the next 1-2 years :)

I was hoping to play Vegas but the performance is just pathetic, I ran my 7900GTO on Vista like my 8800 and I'm just shocked it performs worse.

Hopefully it will change games like lots of reviewers seem to think it will, I also hope more developers start taking more care with PC multi-platform games.

wonder if they said the demo will be out before the game is, but do they mean out before the uk release is? could demo be out on the 23rd?
either way im looking forwards to the demo to finally see if the unreal engine 3 is as efficient as the source or cryengine.

New official info on the demo is coming tomorrow the admin@2K Forums said, apparently it has been promised before the release date and that was the US one, we should definately have it before the UK release date anyway, I reckon it'll be out Monday or Tuesday at latest.

Why does people think Bioshock is going to be crap , from what I've seen Crysis could be just as overhyped aswell, I mean the weird suite he wears that gives you superpowers and makes you able to pick up cars and people and all that spoils crysis for me, I dont think Crysis will be any better than Bioshock tbh, I played the Bioshock demo on the Xbox 360, and it seems very good, not just like any old FPS.

I just posted a bit a thread or two down about what i thought about Bioshock. To me the game is good, graphically. Gameplay wise i couldn't find anything that hadn't been done in a game before. The whole plasmids thing has been done in System Shock 2, yes i know its the same makers, but i would have thought there would be some changes to that system?

To me the plasmids completely over-power the weapons. It shouldn't take 4-5 shots of a revolver to take someone down after you just incinerated them with a bolt of fire. Lots of the scenes also felt very scripted to me and after playing the demo a few times, i couldn't do each section any differently than i did the last time.

Of course this is just my opinion and feel that i am entitled to it. Bioshock feels just like any other FPS and will not be getting a purchase from me. Again just my opinion and i am not trying to stir anything up.

the nano suit in crysis is what its all about, and the destructable environments make it awsome. lure someone into a building and then blow it up and have it collapse on top on them. awsome.

as mentioned above i coult tell from the videos that bioshock is very scripted and its just another fps game which is linear. only half life 2 provided a bit of mind boggling with its use of physics and the variety of ways you could do things.

Holy Took my post the wrong way Batman. Ken Levine has said himself he lifted a ton of stuff from this movie watch it yourself before you snap.

You said he "ripped" the movie insinuating that it was a bad thing!
