**The one and only Official BioShock Thread**- now with added **SPOILERS**

You said he "ripped" the movie insinuating that it was a bad thing!

No No No, it's a great thing :D . I only decided to watch it after he had stated he had took a lot of ideas from the film and put them into the game. Definetly not a bad thing. Ideas have to come from somewhere. :) , maybe my choice of words were not too good but I did say at the top of my post it was influenced from the movie ;)

Ah well I'm glad we got that sorted out then :D

if only Mav would sort the other bit out though :o

aye, only few days left, will be very good to see the unreal engine 3 in 2 different games and see how they perform side by side. one thing though, just going through vegas again, the textures really are shoddy, even half life 2 had better texture quality.

if have to say that texture quality really does make or break a game.

also tom did you find out about the ati advanced monitor timing for us? hoping to get a x1950pro for agp system but need some more info on the advanced timing for custom display setups.

I'll try, a lot of the ATi boys are on holiday ATM. Getting a bit hard to get hold of anyone

Everyone uses different types of **3 engine, the makers of the engine has the latest, the loadned out ones are of lesser quality and had to be finished off on thier own. So each will be slightly different.

Darn search, I miss it...

Anyway, I don't know if this has been mentioned before but isn't it somewhat weird that the Steam countdown timer shows the release for 9pm in the evening on friday? and does that mean that if I wander down to my local shop and pick up a retail copy at 9am that it won;t validate until 9pm?

You have just made this threads first Epic Failure. Leave, leave now.

Not trying to knock but you hyped the crap out of Stalker and it was garbage. You then hyped the crap out of ETQW which in turn, was garbage. I hope your hype is actually going to be worth it this time, well it should be considering the reviews of this game.

although i knock back rainbow 6 vegas on the performance side i still play the game cuz its fun. as with bioshock i will play that too even if i have to use the lew settings i use in rainbow 6 vegas.
although, new hardware like the gtx can run vegas at high resolutions without much issues. and bioshock reviews say the same that the game runs good on a GTX. if they tsted using a 7900gt then it would be more ideal.

like you mention doom 3 thats hoe think bioshock is going to be. linear gameplay. can;t really compare to stuff like farcry with its vast out door areas.

Farcry not linear  I have to say you couldn't have played it to make that comment.

It's as non linear as a linear game can be - if you know what I mean :D

Some sections could be tackled in various ways by taking different routes - you were always channelled to some degree though, but it was hardly DoomIII.

But the same idea applies to Bioshock, you may not get a vast outdoor areas to attack from, or form different strategies around, but there will be different strategies. Bio-shock will be non-linear in that you can achieve the same outcome many ways, much like FarCry, where its always about reaching point B, but how you do it is where the fun comes in.

Doom 3 was always about reaching point B, but how much brightness your screen could take and how many things jumped out at you on the way.

I didn't hype them I just created threads for each of them :D , not my fault the hype meter works on it's own :)

How is making a thread and talking about a game hype, also the games you mentioned didn't get the perfect scores bioshock has. To compare them is plan stupid
