The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

Got it running nicer now, with all at high and 2xAA (constant 35 fps).

Run in DX9!! Runs nicer, looks sooo much better than medium. Very pleased now.

What did you do to make it run well? I tried different configs on the full game and demo, but each time i play, it takes an age to load and everything goes really wierd for a while.

Things say "Shader compling" or something. Performance stays really bad too.

Wouldn't call 35fps running well, but its bearable :D

I just set all to high, and selected to run the game in dx9 by right clicking the shortcut in my "Games" folder.

You must admit 35fps is running well in cryisis, thats if your res is at 1680x1050 and all high settings with maybe shadows or post process to medium.

Is DX9 Crysis in Vista running as good as XP? I'd like to use Vista but playing crysis in XP atm and I love this game, looks so amazin and I like the game play, but I aint used to picking up grenades that have just been thrown at me and I cant seem to pick up people yet.

Res is at 1680x1050, just been playing the game and loving it now.

Just looked too dated for me in medium settings:)

I been playing the demo under vista 64bit (1920x1200) with all high settings (apart from shadows at medium & ObjectDetail very high)....Seems fine

(No idea if i was playing in DX10 or DX9 as i was just left clicking on the crysis SP demo icon to play )

In the demo when you were driving the vehicles you could control the machine gun at the same time as driving, but I cant seem to do that in full version, have to switch views between drivers seat and machine gunner something im doing wrong?

Does anyone know how to increase draw distance?
Trying to get it running nice on my mates pc, I've got it looking good and running at 30fps with Physics on high and a few things on medium and the rest on low. Not bad for a 6800 Ultra.
Anyway the problem is things jump right in front of you (like 50m ahead). This is at the same distance if the settings are on high or low. He'd prefer to run everything on low if there is some way to increase the draw distance.

Any ideas? Is it limited by the vid ram (256)?

You can't do that in the harder difficulty settings, if your not playing in those modes then I have no clue

I wonder is crysis would have been better if EA didn't get involved.

I honestly believe it would be. You can clearly see where developers got rushed to deliver it on time before Xmas with COD4, UT3 etc already announced. Take the part between shipyard and entering mine - there are so many bugs in there it's not even funny - props flying mid air, shooting tyres leave trucks levitating as there are no ingame physics applied to all the items, I actually encountered massive noclip bug at some point where I was flying mid air above copter crash site as I jumped out of the humvee while it was pushed over that massive crack in the road and ended up stuck mid air. Had saves corrupting on me numerous times, especially in snowy part, which on its own has unexplained massive performance impact, everything slowes down like there was no tomorrow and even setting everything to low doesn't speed it up, so I'm not sure how particle storm can do so much damage to game performance. Encountered noclip bug in final battle as well and ended up below deck level. Up to the shipyard though, the game itself, performance issues, field of view distance drawing and truelly crappy fps aside, in terms of story flow was great. Not so good later on and final part, I though, was completely different, below par scripted console like game, completely rushed and in many ways worthy of Serious Sam type of game rather than open environment shooter.

Which once again begs the question - it looks relatively bad on any hardware now, it plays relatively bad on any hardware now, AI is shot, story flow is inconsistant, how on earth did it get 98% and 9.5 out of 10 in all reviews. Was development copy somehow different than my UK retail version, it must have been, because clearly it looked better and played better even on large screens during E3, and since we know SLI doesn't work properly in retail, there is no way to make it look as good as when they demoed it...
