The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

I notice were the mountain starts falling apart to reveal a ship for some reason when bit start falling even if I aint looking at it my fps gets very low, dunno why.

Ok I've updated newer screenshots above and added a few more lines to the CFG file, now it looks even better, water is on "very high" now on dx9 mode, notice the dx10 screenshot compared to the dx9, virtually no difference at all apart from an FPS hit in dx10!

Love it!

Also notice how in DX10 mode the RAM usage is very small, it's under 700MB whereas in DX9 mode the RAM usage is over 1.2GB - I think this is where things are slowing down since it's got to be doing things on the fly for it to have such a hit and not caching most stuff like dx9 is.

As you head out towards the objectives you will find cars on fire etc, stand by those cars for a few secs and Prophet will regen his suit as he needs a heat source.

Wow your config owns!, it looks better than the one I was using and also gives me better performance! :D.

Agreed...mrk...thanks for that. I have now officially moved away from the Hogging DX10 and am going to play the game in 64 Bit DX9 with that configuration. I get a minimum of 25fps playing at 1900 resolution. For the first time Im starting to be reasonably impressed!

I just mix and matched with the ones posted in this thread so we need to thank each other!

Does Crysis in 64bit Vista have better performance?

Also I'm wondering, with all the rock falling and that It gets abit choppy in the cave, I guess thats the CPU bottleneck right as its only using 1 core?

I get the same, I thought it was memory but I've noticed you have 3gig so that should be plenty surely, I doubt it's a cpu bottleneck.

Yeah, mrk - your config rocks! Thanks for that. Game looks absolutely stunning now. I now feel ashamed that I said COD4 looked better the other day ;) I'm not sure we should have to be tweaking the config files to make the game look good mind!! Obviously it doesn't look rubbish at stock, but it's like chalk and cheese comparing the stock and revised configs

Does the full game play better than the demo?
I can't even play the Crysis demo on all low settings with a 2.0Ghz C2D, 2GB RAM and 7900GS.

if it's only using 1 core then it's not a cpu bottlenck :p it's the games utilisation (lack of) of all cores!

Ok I did a comparison between stock dx9, stock dx10 and then dx9 with the config mod.

I made the following findings:

>> DX9 "HIGH" spec (no cfg mod)
Lighting: cfg1_no_dx9_high.jpg
Water: cfg2_no_dx9_high.jpg

>> DX10 "VERYHIGH" spec (no cfg mod)
Lighting: cfg1_no_dx10_veryhigh.jpg
Water: cfg2_no_dx10_veryhigh.jpg

>> DX9 "HIGH" spec (cfg mod loaded)
Lighting: cfg1_yes_dx9_high.jpg
Water: cfg2_yes_dx9_high.jpg

To me the lighting with the CFG mod is more realistic than with very high dx10 - in a real world scene you would not be able to make out areas of shadow as clear as you can and the cfg mod employs this method, as you walk closer to a shadow area HDR ramps up the exposure so you can see what's there - as you would expect if for example you were using a video camera etc.

Mrk for some reason that sphere lag I was on about has gone and I'm getting 25-35 average FPS on the last level now, I was on about 10-20 max earlier.

Weird...I've changed nothing, I just restarted the game.

I can't complain though, playing the game again now from Level 1 on Delta mode, I've been messing around with the game more than playing since my GTX wouldn't run it well, now I can finally play it through properly. :D:D:D

Even better thing is I can actually play it with good FPS on VISTA! I had to boot to XP to get even remotlely good frames when I had my GTX, not sure what was with that card in my system, didn't get along with something in it!
