Farcry 2 will be out before those, I rekon that may be better than Crysis.

Crysis was more than a disapointment, I mean, short game, it went extreamly down hill after entering the ship, just plain boring gameplay, it shows they focused more on graphics, I was expecting the whole island to be accesible so that I could explore, but nope it was just levels :\.

I thought that also, once go in the cave you just hightail it back to extraction point.
Way too short game, although I found Far Cry boring after going inside.

I hope Crytek learn from there mistakes with Crysis and make something better, hopefully they've been looking at the forums taking in what people have been saying, based on the gameplay Crysis should actually be retailing for around £10, not £24

wtf? You must value half-life 2 gameplay about £2 then. Shoot stuff mixed with a few physics puzzles and a vehicle to drive here and there. I swear everyones reactions for this game are so black and white, it's unbelieveable. Crysis has good gameplay- the suit is great- it opens up a whole host of opportunities- you can't deny that. That in itself is innovative enough, executed well enough and fun enough to constitute good gameplay. The second half of the game is lacking in terms of lineriaty compared to the first half, but following the pace and actual storyline it's very much apt. It's not a perfect game but it's good. I'm looking forward to Crysis 2. I very much doubt Crytek will fail at showing us atleast one thing that excites in their next release.

It was definitley to short. Much shorter than Far Cry. And as you say the maps were not as open as in some of Far Cry's maps. Now I'v mastered the nano suit it's a bit to easy as well. I might try Delta but I reckon I'll still get by with the cloak, cover, kill, cover, cloak approach ....... until the aliens show up, then I'll be to bored to continue! I think there should have been sections of the game were your suit capabilities malfunctioned & you had to go at it Far Cry style. That would have been good & more challenging. Don't get me wrong. It's huge fun using the nano suit & it gives you a great sense of power ....... to much power though.

Graphics aside I think Far Cry is a better game than Crysis. Crysis is a great game but the more I think about it the more I feel it was rushed in the final stages. As a result it looks increasingly like a glorified tech demo that doesn't do much Far Cry didn't! I mean the setting is even the same. To all intents & purposes this is Far Cry 2, which is weird because we have a Far Cry 2 in the pipeline (hands up who thought Crysis was actually Far Cry 2 when it was first unveiled?).

As well as all that the cynic in me thinks that Crysis was partly designed to try & shift computer Hardware & Windows Vista! One certainty is that people are going to be buying hardware to run this game, to anywhere near the quality of those lovely videos we saw, for some time yet. The view seems to be that the hardware to run this smoothly with everything maxxed out is not even with us yet!

Lol the suit was not that good, I did not find the fact you could run at about 50mph and jump like 5 meters high and jump up high rocks something that improved the gameplay, the only think usefull mainly was the cloak.

No, I value HL2 gameplay at higher than £10, I enjoyed Half Life 2 more than I did Crysis, its not just about graphics you know....

The last bit of the game was a total discrace, I enjoyed the first part but it was not the best single play game I have played.

Crysis 2 will have to be a lot better, I hope Farcry 2 will be a lot better than crysis too.

I'm going to try farcry again, I never really got into it but then again at that time I was addicted to UT2004 and never really wanted to know about anything else :p.

I guess it comes down to how creative you want to be with how you play the game then- you don't need to use the suit functions at all really, but it makes it a hell of a lot more fun. I guess when you're used to being on rails every time you play a game like the likes of Half-Life etc, it comes as a bit of a shock. And be serious here- the last bit of the game wasn't a 'total disgrace' as you put it. It didn't match up to the first half at all but it wasn't terrible, the linearity of it matched up with the storyline. The first half before you find out about the aliens is very open- do what you want sort of style- it matches the context of the story; however when the aliens are unleashed and things become clearer, (as do your objectives) the way you play the game does get more linear. Even with this I felt it matched what was happening in the story, even if it wasn't as good.

That last part was bad. it was as disgraceful as England's performance against Croatia ........ if that's possible! Well okay it was nice to have a change of setting. But it was very poor - running about all over the ship doing different things. It felt like it should have been at the start of the game the pace was so plodding! Sadly that whole part just contributed to the unfinished feel of Crysis. It felt disjointed towards the end. It could have been much better.

You people keep talking rubbish. The game was great. The detail on the carrier was amazing. The final two bosses were rubbish. The first looked good the second looked poor and was a rubbish ending. The rest of the game is genious.

And the suit is brilliant. Get pinned down in a building. Cloak run outside and watch the guys tactically enter the room they think you are in. Speed upto a bloke and grab him by the neck and run off into the jungle at locomotive speed, while his mate wonder where the hell he went. Or the go checking in the direction you went so you steam round the back of em and take em from behind.

The space ship was brilliant and movie-esc. And those you who got stuck or disorientated just weren't concentrating enough. Or you should have played more descent when you were younger like me.

I agree the ending feels rushed. But they have put so much work into certain areas they didn't have enough for others. It was supposed to be more open. You were meant to go back to the carrier after each mission and what not. The koreans were meant to join forces, instead they disapeared altogether.

I suggest those who don't like it or anything about crysis goto cryteks forums and voice your opinions. Then when we get the sequel we can all be happy.

Those of you who just like to bitch and moan about any little thing just sit in a quiet corner some where and let those of us who love it in peace.

On the Half-life ep2 note I thought that felt more rushed then this. I think they finished ep2 ages ago. They've just been finalising portal and TF2. EP2 is really short and the story didn't pull me in at all. It only had a couple of jaw dropping moments. I just finished so I could know some more story. However crysis just made me want to keep playing. I knew it would be short. I didn't want it to end but I knew it would and it was just an inevitable disapointment.

agreed. but the gameplay wasn't. It was plodding & dull. Felt wrong having that at the end. It reminded me of the opening of Doom 3 when you make your way to your commander.

Again I agree. the suit is really well done & makes combat very interesting. But it also makes things a little easy because it's so powerful. The recharge thing was a cool idea. Very similar to Halo. Incidently I still think Halo has one of the best combat systems of any FPS ever. It's beautifully balanced & very rewarding (well, until the flood showed up. Then it was one big running frag fest!!).

The space ship was brilliant and movie-esc. And those you who got stuck or disorientated just weren't concentrating enough. Or you should have played more descent when you were younger like me.
Come to think of it it did feel a bit like Descent. It was very good but it got a little frustrating after a while - combat with the floaty aliens was so tedious. But the look & feel of the place was breathtaking.

I think going back to the carrier after each mission would have been a bit tud - remember Unreal 2? didn't really work. Joining forces with the Koreans after you've been slaughtering them for half the game? I suppose anything is possible.

Just got in to that stupid Alien part in the mines and the level design is awful. Really want to complete this now because I'm bored ****less with it. Great graphics but the gameplay on the whole has been poor. I'd rather go back and play Far Cry than play this again. Massively, massively overrated.

I'm starting to feel like that myself - First impressions were awful in it as the best graphics of any game ever. But the nano suit presents a real imbalance. Playing on Delta & it's still a piece of **** using the usual cover, cloak, kill, cover, cloak routine. Far Cry is a better game overall. No doubt in my mind now but try telling that to the doods that have spent a fortune on their rigs for the likes of Crysis. I'm a bit more objective because I've only spent £300 & it runs like a dream for me (on MEDIUM that is )

I've got a reasonably good PC and play it on quite high settings but graphics don't mean a lot to me. Give me gameplay over graphics any day of the week. Crysis = style over substance.

Does anyone know how to fix this with the Sandbox editor? The same thing happened when i tried to run it in the demo version:

Would'nt spurise me if the game was supposed to be longer, but EA put presure on Crytek for rushed pre-Xmas release to cash in. So part of the game was cut along with lack of single player testing + what seemed a rushed last 3rd etc, much like anything else EA put there name to...

probably why it was later announced it would be a trilogy.
