The ONE AND ONLY ***OFFICIAL*** Crysis thread - SPOILERS!

That's strange. I played through that on Delta and found it relatively easy.

It lagged to hell for me due to the mountain crumbling in the background & that made it difficult to aim straight etc, recently replayed it & lowered some settings down & it was a lot smoother so maybe thats the way to go on some of the later levels, also took a different route which made it completely different to the 1st time.
Then I replayed it again with all ammo enabled & found a vantage point & took out the tanks one by one with rockets & then lay down on a hill with the sniper rifle to finish off all the bots :p

It's quite easy

It isn't for me, theres shells raining in from all over, and ive got to the end (or what seems to be the end) as i can't go any further forward, and im out of shells and so i just get blasted to **** off the tanks and choppers, and why the hell can a tank not get over a ******* log or a small rock, im sitting there going ******* move, but no, once you hit a log or small rock thats it, yer ******, you cant get past, so you have to reverse and BOOM, pathetic.:mad:

Well yer learn something new everyday, you can get out of the ******* tank, thought you had to the whole level in the ****.

Lol that's what I thought as well. :D I went a different way after getting destroyed like yourself a view times. Then when my tank was destroyed I just stealthed about and took some missile launchers at the few vehicles left. :)

I'm upgrading this week and will be installing Vista. It will take days for me to read this entire thread, so I'll just ask! For best performance with Vista 64 with a 8800GT is it best to run it in DX9 or DX10 or does it not matter? Also is it best to use very high or modified high on Vista?

I'd run Crysis in DX9 mode and just apply a customised System.cfg file which increases the HDR effect and darkens shadows, although not by too much or it begins to look a too artificial.

the earlier levels run ok for me on Vista (DX10), everything on high, 1280x1024. Got to the bit where it turns the lab to ice and it struggled like hell. SP1 (or the reboots involved) seemed to smooth that out fine but then I'm struggling again on the approach to the harbour. Tried turning Post-Processing down to med but it still lags badly

wouldn't even bother trying very high DX10, don't think there's a pc that runs it yet.

let's hope that they don't keep people waiting as long as Atari/Eden kept people waiting (are still arguably) over Test Drive Unlimited. Took them months to release a patch that didn't seem to resolve any of the issues reported, still haven't released a second.

Played through the harbour approach bit again last night and it was fine, even on high. Does appear to be a memory leak issue as a reboot seems to sort out the appalling lag.

Yeah, its a dreadfully coded game imho... I mean, it should be able to run slightly better than 20FPS with everything on full on an 8800GTX, 4GB RAM, Q6600 System right?

You would have thought so wouldn't you. I'm just glad I didn't spend out for a system like that in readiness for the game. My entire new build (completed a month or so ago) costs less than your GFX card alone & it runs the game perfectly well on Medium settings. I'd be gutted If I'd forked out a small fortune & still couldn't run it on max.

Everyone's waiting for a patch - Like that's going to sort out a 20fps problem! What is everyone expecting? A patch that gives you another 20fps? :p You only get 20fps because it's poor coding. A patch is not going to sort that out. the only way to sort that out is by throwing more hardware at the problem. Hardware that doesn't currently exist but how much is that going to cost when it does? Crysis could become the worlds most expensive game ever!!

Yeah man its quite sad. There has been a huge amount of Lying going on from Cevat Yerli etc.... "Being able to run the game on ultra with a single 8800GTX..." comes to mind. Its absolutely pathetic... How can it be legal? Surely its just deception?

that really would be interesting to find out. I'm pretty sure that it has been made out the following :-

1) The game was extremely well optimised
2) The videos we were shown were running on a single 8800.
3) The difference between DX9 and DX10 was like night and day (when it isn't).
4) To be fair, I'm reasonably confident that very high settings were designed with future hardware in mind (though it appears that even high settings are a struggle even on a GT/GTX).

It is a very nice looking game but how many people have shelled out for Vista and a DX10 card and been disappointed at the performance.
