Well you are taking fringe sites and applying the statement 'They just want a vehicle to push their bile' to all of rightwing sites when there's bigger/more successful ones that are quite happy for free speech to reign.
 
Well yes, if you ignore all the right wing loons who oppress free speech then you're correct, it's only left wing loons who oppress free speech :cry:

But surely you can see it's the principle. The argument from the regressive right is that it's only the progressive left that indulge in cancel culture, which is provable nonsense.

It's almost like political ideology isn't the fundamental driving force in this issue and everyone from all sides indulges in it.

But it isn't I've not referred to that, others have tried to claim that... just as people are reaching with their generalisations of Gab or Trump's network.

Also, it's hardly right wing to want free speech, I don't think Elon is right wing, he's kinda a swing voter right now but has generally been a democrat and is fairly liberal.
 
You might assume Facebook, YouTube etc are moderated by more left-leaning people, but their algorithms have done more to push people down right-wing rabbit holes and echo chambers than anything else in modern history.

Dowie didn't tar an entire political side? from my quick look at the post he made a joke about progressive twitter users and their double standards, body shaming in this instance.

yes I've noticed more right wing people leaning into cancel culture the past year or so, what's the issue with that? Is it solely the domain of those on the left? if you cant beat them join them.

That's more to do with the algorithms in place for these large social media sites, it will happen regardless of political leaning, click on political/social articles and stories and you'll get fed more and more of the same rhetoric, left wing or right wing.
 
Yes, and it's why I refuse to watch any political commentator type videos on YouTube or join any weird Facebook groups.

I didn't mean it exclusively pushes people down right wing rabbit holes, but it's certainly the more dangerous of the two IMO.

Nothing is wrong with it (in the context of the discussion) that's exactly what I am talking about. "cancel culture" or censoring views you don't want to hear isn't, and never has been, the preserve of one side of the political debate. It's just a tired old trope pushed by the regressive right that it's only the looney left that do it, just to keep fanning the flames of the contrived BS culture war they like to promote.
 
Same, I just use youtube for gaming and cooking stuff mainly - although some guy that trims cows hoofs for living popped up in my recommendations recently, gave him a watch as it's actually pretty chill and now I get all sorts of crap like that show up in my feed :D
