The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

If he/his accountants were not able to make it tax deductible I'll be surprised

Well, if it's costing the company 100 million then that's 100 million less in pnl surely so I'd guess so - though are they even profitable at the moment?

If he's funding it personally then I'm not sure, charity donations certainly are in the UK (that applies to everyone not just rich people with accountants, just tick the gift aid box or make payroll donations) but not sure how the US works I guess this isn't necessarily going through a regular charity unless something has been arranged via an agency like USAID or some Ukrainian org etc..

Is he just trolling here with a reference to the recent news story or actually hinting at something more substantial like a partnership perhaps?

Context.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has agreed to buy the self-styled "uncancellable" social-media platform Parler, the company has announced.
Last week, the star's Twitter and Instagram accounts were locked, after he posted anti-Semitic messages.
Parler is used mainly by US conservatives, and describes itself as a "free speech" alternative to mainstream platforms.
Ye "will never have to fear being removed from social media again", chief executive George Farmer posted.

Imagine getting excited that some crazy rapper buys something like bebo.
He won't though. He's off his meds, likely to end up in front of a Judge if he's not terribly careful, and cosying up to an egotist who himself is going through some kind of public trauma because - and this is not by mistake - cannot control his own volume and tone. Musk is off the rails at the moment, I don't think that's up for debate, and Kanye was the first responder before it even happened.

Good times.

probably need to look at the average income of the folks on facebook versus twitter ? what are their relative returns on advertising investment per user. (kardachians advertising crypto, aside)

You mean the users? Or the ones making money from their social media?
yes the users .. probably AB/250K$+, not sure of the nomenclature (people who would now fork out £350 to go to glastonbury)
who would provide useful return on advertising investment in the platform.

maybe kardachians selling a few bits of makeup to millions on fb is worth more than bmw maintaining a loyal customer on twitter though.

You think people who fork out £350 to go to Glastonbury are on $250,000 a year?

What about people who buy £2000 GPU's? They must be millionaires, right?
Don't forget the people who fork out £1.1k to go on holiday for a week at some cheap beach resort.

They must be earning £750k as those holidays are 3 times the cost of the Glastonbury ticket.

But they last longer and dont require you to sleep in a soaking wet field in a tent. That in itself is a better investment. £350 for Glastonbury is lol.

£350 is still value for money tbh. It is 3 days of the best acts in the world, plus all of the side show entertainment. You pay £110 to see the Lion King for 3 hours nowadays.

Well anyone that spends £350 per person on a bad camping weekend has no valid right to complain about the cost of living.

you're a smart guy. what you just said isn't.

you know the weekend isn't what you've summarised it as. if you correctly summarise it, you know £350 is not that crazy of an amount to pay.

It's what, £115 per day, compared to £110 per 1.5 hour for lion king at theatre, or the cursed child which is the dumbest harry potter story going, worse than the fantastic beasts.

If you compare glastonbury to what it actually is, and not to bad camping, it's pretty amazing value for money.

anyone seen the ticket prices to blink182, a 1 band concert?

Wanted to see them but unless i fancied sitting in the gods it was nearing £200 a ticket :( Not sure The O2 is really the venue for them either.

Water Aid compost loos, 50p (or what ever the donation is) and you can have a smelly free poo in peace whilst reading the daily paper :)

Although to be honest it's only the 'long drops' that are bad, most of the portaloos, especially around the camp areas, aren't too bad.
