The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Because it's clear he did want to buy it which is why he's put in a bid for it and has actually bought it.

But still, carry on with your cope if you like.

Sure, that's 100% correct.

So long as you discount/ignore all the stuff that happened in between A and B.

This thing about "Vijaya Gadde was sacked and left the building crying her eyes out"

She was one of the people that enforced the sale, she knew she would likely be on the way out.

Nope, not reliant on that at all.

Take a look at the exchanges with Jack, for example, he clearly wanted it. I think people are conflating attempted scuppering of this deal/buying at this price with not wanting it at all.

Musk/Tesla isn't cracking the autonomous driving problem so he should probably contemplate his coding prowesse .. I thought he even cut some teams in the reorg.
he needs to realise his behaviour/decisions for twitter impacts confidence in Tesla brand - he's already been accused of being awol. ... a future Howard Hughes.

I'll need evidence for 'crying her eyes out', please.

As a lawyer and Twitter's chief legal advisor, Gadde was naturally involved in a few significant moderation decisions, but she was absolutely not the sole arbiter of what the platform permitted.

Gadde earned $24 million in 2 years (not including her severance package) so losing her job at Twitter is unlikely to cause her any sleepless nights.
I can't speak for Gadde but a I know from working with people in those positions power is like a drug and you enjoy welding it even over the reward of money (not to say that's money's not important just that power can be intoxicating). It must be quite a shock going from one of the most influential people in the world (at least behind the scenes) to being a nobody.

They think Musk has changed the moderation rules (he hasn't, and he's publicly admitted this).

To be fair, a lot of the righty types believe this too.

Hasn't he?

FREE SPEECH AT LAST, WOO HOO

And it's used to be racist....We're applauding this are we?

There hasn't been any change to the terms of service yet though I suspect that account could well be removed having said that they do allow the use of the n-word (especially on black twitter) and other accounts have, despite obviously trolling with it, got away with it, for example, this account has been up for over a year now:

As mentioned previously, I expect plenty of media types will of course be highlighting anything dubious and blaming it on Musk though.

Ligma Johnson is one of the best trolls I’ve seen in ages. Close to perfection.

The outfit and book choice, the “I need to touch base with my husband and wife“, the slight break of character at the end as he sees the finish line in sight. A+

Those guys run two of the best anon twitter accounts on that platform too tbh.

Well he's put himself in the line of fire now so yes he will be getting blamed for everything.

For someone who probably regrets getting involved in Ukraine I can't quite see why he's gotten himself involved in what is effectively the information warzone, but I'm sure it'll become apparent after a few years.

Yeah, it's likely a big deal, sure the pay out is nice but both she and the CEO were likely multi-millionaires already, they likely already have a nice house, everything they need etc.. and would have been earning plenty more had they stayed on.

She's gone from being one of the top people at a major tech co to... uncertainty, I'm sure both she and Parag can get some sort of VP or director-type role in a large-ish tech firm somewhere or join a hot startup, whether they can walk into another equivalent role - CEO or Chief Legal officer/General counsel at another tech firm of equivalent size or influence is not certain at all.

General counsel at some easy-to-get role (for her) at some random enterprise software firm just doesn't have the same status, she was the woman who booted Donald Trump off the platform, arguing with clients over SLAs etc.. probably isn't going to give the same level of job satisfaction.

Arguably both she and Parag don't need to work ever again or can serve on a few boards, do some charity stuff etc. but getting another equivalent role perhaps needs a bit of luck/chance too.

In other news, Jack's new social network is accepting beta users now:

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's new Bluesky Social app is now accepting users for beta testing, and is set to launch "soon".

The highly anticipated social media project has been described as a rival to Twitter (TWTR) and is set to challenge existing social media platforms like Facebook (META), Instagram and Snapchat (SNAP).

On Tuesday, Bluesky announced the roadmap of its decentralised social network protocol, which will be the underlying code behind the app.

Exactly. If you ignore the fact that he even said he doesn't want to buy it. The fact he was taken to court. Surely all actions of a man that wants to buy twitter.

It explains how you end up with pages and pages of dowie holes. Ignore the blatantly obvious coop attempt, court case to force Elon to buy twitter, and then you'll be able to come to the conclusion that it was something else that actually happened.

And he is the one that says it's other that are lying to themselves as a coping mechanism. Funny that he sure does like to project doesn't he.

Elon was forced to buy twitter. That much is clear. At the 11th hour only then saying "OK I will buy it". There's no value in debating that. The only reason to think otherwise is as a coping mechanism. And look how that user has been since. Trying to show all the great things since Elon has taken over. Cope cope cope.

Wonder if the execs deleted all the information about why someone was banned so when it comes to unbanning people they run the risk of breaking the law?
