It's not even something that's up for debate. He believes in it, by announcing everything himself.
You said he doesn't believe in PR.
He believes in it, by announcing everything himself.
What he doesn't necessarily believe in, is having a department to handle those things for him.
I'm sure Tesla got rid of theirs a few years ago as well.
It's not like they're all equal, he's getting rid of a lot of the more periphery stuff as part of this (though still slimming down the rest too) - he doesn't believe in PR, he's not exactly going to prioritize the accessibility team or the team responsible for the trending topics and explore tab etc.. so they've been axed.
wikipedia said:Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing and disseminating information from an individual or an organization (such as a business, government agency, or a nonprofit organization) to the public in order to influence their perception. Public relations and publicity differ in that PR is controlled internally, whereas publicity is not controlled and contributed by external parties.
Elon Musk rejected the idea of Tesla going back to having a PR department, and his reasoning behind it is quite revealing: He doesn’t believe in “manipulating public opinion.”
public opinion is irrelevant to Elon, only thing that matters is senators opinions and government subsidies lol
He's probably already wondering how he can turn twitter into a public service the state has to pay for
? he knew and referred to the absence/dismissal of the team, because Musk wants to do it himself.Vincent try to read more carefully please, what do you think is being referred to here? I'm literally referring to the teams he's getting rid of in reply to someone talking about sacking half the staff:
He could claim American influence is greatly reduced if China ends up with the platform that takes twitters place. That is a bit of an Achilles heel though in this case as, unlike his other businesses where he's just looking at driving innovation and creating great products, he needs to be mindful of advertisers - that is where there is plenty of risk.
So announce update to product and price, then backtrack on price due to kickback, then launch update with new price but then halt the update due to misuse?
At this point I'm beginning to wonder whether there's some weird financial way in which it works out better for Musk if he forces Twitter rapidly into bankruptcy.
TBF he does believe in it, he just doesn't believe in having a staff do it. He does it himself. I'm fairly sure Tesla still doesn't spend any money on advertising, he does it all and handles the PR. Sending Starlink into Ukraine was a genius move for both PR and advertising, hardly anyone had heard of Starlink before he did that, now everyone who watches the news has likely heard of it. Threatening to turn it off was a terrible bit of PR and he had to backtrack. He's likely regretting sacking all the PR with the kicking Twitter is taking right now and advertisers have walked away.
Yeah the guy who popularised electric cars, is trying to get humans to Mars, and bought Twitter for free speech purposes is bad because of reasons
bought Twitter for free speech purposes
Get humans to Mars lul. You are so far up it must be nearly daylight.
Oh dear.
