The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Did anyone link Elon to this thread yet? He'll be twice as rich this time next year if he discovers this gold mine of tips. Thinking of starting a thread about pro Chess so that we can help Magnus Carlsen with his end game

I fully suspect that much of what has been said in this thread was said to him face to face or in reports in regards to how not to massively end up in a mess...

Reports are coming out that for example Twitter's own internal risk assessments of the blue tick were what we were saying back when he said he was going to use the same blue tick for paid for accounts as for actually verified ones, and it played out worse than those of us who thought about it expected (well worse for Twitter).
Other issues that Twitter seems to be facing are ones anyone who has ever spent a few minutes reading about what happens when you lay off huge numbers of staff without planning could have told you.

Not to mention if a cornershop knows you need a legally responsible "data handler" for something as basic as CCTV it's not hard to imagine that Twitter is going to need people to do the same job, and that it's alarming when everyone legally responsible for upholding legal obligations (including data handling) is either fired, or worse quits rather than do what the boss tells them to (the main reason you'd do that is because you aren't going to jail for the boss*).
When the bosses personal lawyer sends out an email telling staff with no training or experience that they can do legal certification of their jobs you get outside lawyers perking up their ears and saying "really?" whilst the regulators and auditors start sharpening their calculators and buying in new dictaphones for the upcoming interviews.

*Very few lawyers are willing to go to jail or lose their legal certifications for their boss, although I've seen a few joke about they'd do it if they had many millions in an escrow account that would start to pay out as soon as they were investigated (at least once with the additional comment about "and then I'd anonymously report the boss").

You should send him a link. Maybe he’ll reward your endless simping with some Twitter stock.

TBF, I think 'twice as rich' is over selling the advice in this thread.

But he might not have tanked his investment if he had listened to it, and be at least as rich as when he started this little ego project.

I think Roar is hoping to go straight to the horse pay out stage.

Why? Magnus Carlsen does a great job at chess and has a great end game.

You don't need to make a critique thread for someone doing well :p

You see how many times I've posted in that watch thread? Check, it's very very low. Want to know why? Because I don't find it interesting. I don't care for that thread, so I don't join in, but I happily let others and don't judge them for having their fun and how they take enjoyment at something. Maybe you can do the same for this thread?

The thing is, what you've said is essentially "can everyone please stop talking about daddy elon in a negative way", which you've said about 50 times so far.

Weird comparison. As far as I know, Magnus Carlsen is quite good at chess whereas, as yet, Elon hasn't shown a single sign of being remotely good at running Twitter. As for pointing to this thread, I'd personally recommend he stand down in favour of a lettuce. It'd do a better job of running Twitter.

I think my favourite thing about this twitter stuff is seeing random twitter employees being all <surprised pikachu face> being fired when they've told their boss to **** off, long may it continue :D

Yep, taking pleasure in the firing of people who have done nothing wrong other than to work for a company taken over by a narcissist is definitely normal behaviour of completely rational people...

**** around and find out, you get what you deserve etc etc
Goes both ways - if you publically ****-post about your employees whilst pumping out misinformation then you better expect some blow back from at least some of the them :)

Luckily there's a decent enough IT community, so anyone worth their weight will find employment elsewhere easily enough.

So if your boss made some decisions you disagreed with you'd jump onto social media and tell the guy to **** off etc and not expect to be fired? Of course not.

If management has queries or issues with XYZ, then i expect it to be handled internally with those that can do something about it - just common-sense and decency. If management take it publically, whilst (in this case) giving out false information, then expect public responses. Neither employees or management come off great in this but ultimately, it makes management and the company look incompetent.

Either way, most will find employment elsewhere and given leaks on employment under Musk elsewhere, it probably isn't a bad thing to leave.

* I'm mostly talking about Eric Frohnhoefer, 6+ year Android app dev, who gave a rational response to Musk's "Android app is slow because RPC's" and corrected him.

Where are all these employees swearing at Elon Musk?
I imagine "Clark" is talking about sachee who told him to "go-forth" after Musk got rid of a lot of the infrastructure crew (i believe). I can kind of see how someone would be attached to their job/position/peers but arguably it wasn't the smartest thing to do. But having seen some of the employees Twitter accounts, she's probably an exception, plus she appeared to have issue with Musk weeks back, with a lot of them just correcting the BS (particularly around Twitter's stack and infra) Musk is throwing around.
