The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Unfortunate for the employees who are on visas and don't actually have a choice.

Well of course they do but it's called choosing to be deported and that's quite a bit worse than the choice everyone else gets. If they can line up another job that satisfies the visa then they can leave the company without having to leave the country but this choice was demanded to be made within 1 day.

For everyone who did have a real choice, it's 3 months paid, covering the entire holiday season OR you spend the same holiday season "working long hours at high intensity" for Elon in a skeleton staff.

The left wing liberal media caused the demise of Twitter not Elon.

Yes, sarcasm, if it was not obvious. What an absolute inept numpty. Elon has ruined Twitter, so much for "free speech."
He will certainly blame that, but seems to be trying to blame the employees for not wanting to save Elon's ego over the Christmas period by working themselves to death when he doesn't even understand what can and cannot be done within the realms of multiple jurisdictions/regulations.

Normally in a recession the employer has the bigger stick and can almost always get their way, however for Twitter it seems to be a bit more nuanced in that Elon cannot afford to let the company fail because of his actions as it will permanently spook investors.

Reports are estimating that Twitter headcount has been reduced by 88% since Daddy Elon took over. Even making the fair assumption that Twitter staff numbers were bloated, that is an insane reduction in workforce.

Anyone got any ideas on what to do next? As we know, he checks this thread regularly!

There's no way they've lost 88% of the staff. He barely fired 50%, after promising to fire 75%.

What's wrong with these people? It's a job, if you don't like it get another one.

Where did the 75% come from? The original cull was 50% of their 7500 headcount, and that excluded contractors that all got fired. There was then the ban on WFH which would have led to another bout of resignations although numbers can only be speculated. Then the announcement on having to work longer hours - more resignations. Then apparently there's been a few sackings where workers have got into a dispute with him on Twitter.

I would actually imagine once the dust has settled that they will have lost close to 75% of the workforce.

I can't recall if Elon owned Twitter outright, or he was just the majority shareholder. But I would not want to be holding any Twitter shares right now.
