The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

The former business making terrible investment choices doesn't excuse comically bullish behaviour by new management.

I wouldn't be interested in working for a tyrannical company with the chief on a power trip.

But, hard to tell what is real and what is not. The fact that it's permitted to be such a public circus is not a good sign.

I'd actually be quite glad for twitter to go. I think it's probably terrible for mental health. The majority of posts on there seem to be complaints - as if people have to vocalise their discomfort of anything, rather than properly 'deal with it'. There is no emotional temperance.

Not everything should be tolerated, but 'dealing with it' generally ('it' being the uncontrollable actions of others) is a necessary part of life.

The more tolerant you are, the better you deal with discomfort and the less difficult and hurtful things are. Emotional temperance is a skill. I'm only really just getting to grips with it myself. It's hard.

It's funny that the moment Musk controls Twitter the establishment start spinning the "Twitter is going down" headlines.

For the third time on the BBC I've heard them have on someone promoting the Mastodon site.

I'd never heard of the Mastodon site until it was mentioned on here. Why do people think it will be successful when other platforms that were nearly copies of Twitter/Facebook failed, or at least never came out of their niche?

Are you unaware that the BBC is obliged to promote the "other side" of anything it's talking about.

No matter how stupid or small that alternate is.

It's how many idiots get airtime. The BBC has to do it.

It's not spinning if it looks true.

They suck. The end.

YOLO

In all honesty I don't like twitter and tiktok so don't use them.

Facebook and Instagram are another matter though, I've unfollowed nearly everyone on my friends list as they post some tosh. That said however, there's groups on both around local communities, history, art etc and I find them much easier to view than a forum.

People dont want or care if a platform is successful they just want one that works and isnt run by a right wing idiot.

Nice anti BBC wedged in also. 'establishment' christ.

no one thinks Mastodon will be successful, and it isn't designed or aimed to be as successful as Twitter. In fact, it is designed specifically not to be successful, as it is just an open distributed platform that cannot be owned and controlled by a single entity

They probably all just got promoted for showing they can write efficient code that's not a mess.

you know when you goto a job interview as a coder they ask you to code something on the spot.

they don't ask for "screenshots of past works"
