He has a BA in Physics

A Bachelor of ARTS in a science class

Like I said, you're his target audience if you believe that

It's from Penn right? How do you explain this:

It's not just them either, Penn is an Ivy League uni equivalent to Oxbridge over here so let's take a look at Oxford:

Yup, Oxford offers a BA in Physics.

What about Cambridge... well they offer a BA in Natural Sciences albeit you can specialise in Physics:

So perhaps it isn't so silly after all...

He does have a BA, only it's not actually stated what it is in (probably in BS'ing)

Seriously guys, you're all sounding a bit silly as you don't appear to understand university degrees..... whilst criticising university degrees people have...and using that to say Musk is therefore not smart?!?

He did a double degree (which is harder) hence two bachelors - Economics and Physics, really not hard to find out.

Then in terms of laughing at his Arts degree in physics, if you went to any top historical university (eg Oxford), you'll see they give BAs for all bachelors, so you'll never get a BSC in anything - which by this logic, means everyone at Oxford should be laughed at for their ridiculous BAs in physics, chemistry etc?!?

I mean, look at this other moron with a BA in physics: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Hawking

What a fool, he's definitely the idiot here.... only an arts degree!!

And finally, this whole implication that a degree is how you measure intelligence obviously makes Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Larry Ellison etc etc etc all idiots as they didn't even finish their degrees...

Just in case any of the critics want to learn anything, the meaning of the word “arts” in BA/MA etc is actually the Latin ars, which means an area of knowledge, so this was applied to all subjects back when Latinate derivation was more common (hence even that idiot, Isaac Newton only could muster an arts degree... ;) )

Hence any university older than 150 years or so will often use the original terminology, it's really just the less established ones that have shifted - hence I don't believe anyone has ever held the most prestigious scientific academic position (Lucasian Chair of Mathematics) who hasn't had an 'arts' degree.... I'm sure it'll happen some day, but the better universities give out BAs... and also better graduates!

Still doesn't explain why he claims he has a BS in Computational Physics

Wow, thanks for this post. I just refreshed the page between Overwatch 2 games and laughed. ******* Stephen Hawking, another fraud /s

Seems we all fail at assumption as nobody said he wasn't smart, you can't be a top class *********** without some smarts, I wrongly assumed BA was just for peasants drawing pictures and BS was where it's at, now I shall go tear my BSC up because it's apparently worthless :(

Seriously, this hole you're digging....

Have you worked with lawyers before, this is what they do. In that same link you share, you can see this was struck off as game-playing semantics.

His professors still teach at Penn and talk about him, he's sold his homework as a fundraiser - do you not think Penn (or any university) would have pointed out if he was misrepresenting his degree?!? I mean, he's the richest man in the world, so not exactly low profile!

Anyway, I commonly say something very similar as I studied linguistics as one of my subjects, but I'll always refer to it as 'computational linguistics' as there was such a diversity of sub-domains - eg some people were studying poetry, whereas I was working with supercomputers doing phonological assessment, voiceprinting etc.

I'm sure if a lawyer was desperately trying to smear, they could criticise me for the same - and again, I can't honestly say what the exact degree title on my certificate says, so I'd get that wrong too.... and I only got an MA, so it's one of those silly arts degrees in a science again..... ;)

A little melodramatic, but you've learnt something!

Well if you read, my conjecture was clearly marked as trying to make sense of your wobbly position, so I make no apologies if it makes no sense, it is not my own opinion!

I lieu of any clarity, I'd guess you're basically saying you don't like him, therefore you don't want to recognise his genius.

I'd say a more logical position is that he's clearly a genius, but you don't like him - the two don't need to feed each other...

This explains so much
I always thought that roary the tiger was a child (mentally) from his posts but now it's confirmed.

That's really interesting. Love learning stuff like this. Thanks for sharing
