The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Did he actually release the stolen details? From what I could see he was trying to sell them to Elon directly.
They released the data although from what I can see there are no phone number in the leak. The leak was Email addresses, Names, Social media linked to Twitter, Usernames.

I haven’t heard anything from Elon in the news for a week - is he dead or just taking a long nap?

Last time he was out of the headlines for this long, he panic-bought Twitter…
He's just lost 200 billion and he's going to continue that way. Give the poor man a break! He's probably busy setting up a gofundme page so that the simps can continue to defend him but now by donating money. Guys, get your wallet ready; If Elon goes loses his wealth then there's no chance of it trickling down to us.

Hmm

Elon Musk has urged a federal judge to shift a trial in a shareholder lawsuit out of San Francisco because he says negative local media coverage has biased potential jurors against him.

Instead, in a filing submitted late Friday – less than two weeks before the trial was set to begin on 17 January – Musk’s lawyers argue it should be moved to the federal court in the western district of Texas. That district includes the state capital of Austin, which is where Musk relocated his electric car company, Tesla, in late 2021.

The shareholder lawsuit stems from Musk’s tweets in August 2018 when he said he had sufficient financing to take Tesla private at $420 a share – an announcement that caused heavy volatility in Tesla’s share price.

In a victory for the shareholders last spring, Judge Edward Chen ruled that Musk’s tweets were false and reckless.

If moving the trial isn’t possible, Musk’s lawyers want it postponed until negative publicity regarding the billionaire’s purchase of Twitter has died down.

“For the last several months, the local media have saturated this district with biased and negative stories about Mr Musk,” attorney Alex Spiro wrote in a court filing. Those news items have personally blamed Musk for recent layoffs at Twitter, Spiro wrote, and have charged that the job cuts may have even violated laws.

The shareholders’ attorneys emphasized the last-minute timing of the request, saying: “Musk’s concerns are unfounded and his motion is meritless.”

I think Elon's first point is weak, but he does have a point with the second one. Even if he's entirely to blame for the coverage, you can't deny that negative coverage has been every where recently about Elon and it could influence jurors decision.

Not sure if that matters. Other wise Elon can just keep being an idiot as he has been and never face a court case.

I don't have a dog in this fight but it seems clear that if he had just STFU there wouldn't have been half of the negative publicity doing the rounds.

I would think/hope that the Judge wouldn't allow a continuance, given that all Musk would have to do to keep the trial from ever going forward was keep being himself on twitter.

yes - elon's got problems with his side gig - like chinese car owners protesting about price cuts from byrd etc. competition, and the usa sales hiatus as biden credit scheme compliance introduced.
