It looks like he's still either making it up as he goes along, or hasn't actually communicated with the people putting out the announcements, or he's just really bad at communicating what he's got planned, or all three.

Elsewhere on Twitter it's saying that the new organisation verification will be $1k per month, with any affilated persons or organisations being an extra $50 per month.

As a number of charities and small organisations/events have said, $1k per month is completely out of reach of most, and I personally suspect it's not going to bring in any real new money as the likes of the big companies will just move any remaining advertising money into paying for their check (assuming they even bother to keep their twitter accounts running).

He's also not given any plan for dealing with fakes and frauds, other than "it's a nice reputation you've got there, it'd be a shame if anything happened to it". It's going to be fun when the first organisation that gets a "verified" imposter takes Twitter to court for making what was a basic safeguard (for Twitter as a company at least as much as for anyone else) and started charging an extortionate amount for it.

This.

"Yes Mr Elon, our annual advertising budget for Twitter has coincidently had to drop by $12,000"

Wow, Facebook must be getting a massive hard on at the opportunity they are being given from twitter to become the new twitter.

Imagine Facebook charging £1k per month for a Facebook page.

I imsgine the charge is only for companies of a certain size and up, not that I have a clue how twitter would know, or perhaps if you have more than x followers then you pay, so small companies aren't hit with this, but still it makes no sense. Coca cola paying £1k per month so they can create content for twitter to show and put adverts next to

Man with cat lol. God they're just all clones aren't they
I didn't say they weren't men, I even like cats, there's just a certain type of men who get cats that fit a certain mold.
Yeah, stereotypes exist for a reason. If you're a dude who owns a cat there's a 90% chance you vote Labour and like IPAs.
Of course he doesn't own a cat.
