Never understood how the cybertruck got approved, isn't that deadly if it runs into someone with a front like that?

Yes and its why it will never be sold in the EU/UK as it won't pass safety tests. Its a pedestrian killer even at slower speeds. Sadly the US is all about the individual and not greater public safety. See their ridiculous guns laws.

If it's classed as a light truck in the US it's subject to different regulations than cars.

Not really allowed in Europe but it may well turn out to be less deadly though regardless as obvs current regulations are for dumb vehicles without fancy sensors, self driving etc..

Are you implying the Cybertruck has any of that? Cause it doesn't...

Pedestrian killer?
Tesla has not said whether it will sell Cybertrucks in Europe, but its chief engineer this month told motoring publication TopGear that EU safety rules aimed at protecting pedestrians by limiting external protrusions could make it tough to sell there.

U.S. regulators rely on vehicle makers to self-test and certify their adherence to safety standards.

In what way is it more deadly than a Ford ranger? Or a Land Rover?
The steel has no energy absorption and the sharp edges on the front that would literally cut someone in half?

Bizzare, what makes you think the cyber truck has no sensors
Because Tesla started removing ultrasonic sensors to save money, and now rely on cameras and software only.
and no capability for self driving?
It has the "capability for self driving", but it doesn't have it yet, so what he said is entirely accurate as of today.

False, just checked and it comes with autopilot and the specs state there are front, rear and side parking sensors. There's also lane keeping, lane departure warning, front collision warning and automatic emergency steering.

I think what's getting muddled here is simply that they've forgone a front radar sensor for a camera... kinda moot given the camera now fulfills that role and it can still apply the safety features mentioned.

So back to the actual point being made, it's not a dumb vehicle, it has sensors and cameras and it has some level of automation/self-driving thus the point re: safety.

It's not false

Kyle of 'Out of spec reviews' has tested it extensively.
