The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Not necessarily, there was an agreement in place with clauses, Musk claims Twitter has breached these clauses, Twitter will no doubt claim they didn't, so it will go to court.

The filing is here: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1418091/000110465922078413/tm2220599d1_ex99-p.htm

Of course it will go to court, that was inevitable. But it still won't end up with Musk buying Twitter. He couldn't raise the initial sum he offered, so he looked for a way to bargain the price down, now he's trying to pull out entirely and dodge the penalty fee. He still can't provide any evidence to support his claim about the number of bots.

Musk bit off more than he could chew, and now he's the one being eaten.

Well that's not true, I do think the bots thing was an excuse/deflection though, as I mentioned at the start of June he's looking for excuses to pull out or lower his bid.

I doubt there is anything overly complex/sinister to it other than tech stocks fell and he'd be a bit of a chump/is overpaying at the price he offered now so he's looking for excuses to withdraw or lower his bid.

Twitters shareholders will have someones balls on a stick if Twitter doesn't do everything it can to get the 44B agreed in the contract.

It's going to be hilarious watching Elon pushing some pathetic excuses for why he didn't look at the numbers before signing and how it's Twitters fault.

Well it's not pathetic; he's basically saying he has looked at the figures but on further inspection has asked for guarantees around the user figures. Of course the value isn't a true representative if the number of bot accounts far exceeds the 5% they claimed.

Why did he sign a contract if he wasn’t happy what he was buying was value for money?

Since the day this deal was announced everyone knew we would end up here with Musk pulling the plug and twitter taking him to court it was all so predictable yet still his supporters act like he was working in good faith ……

Yeah I get that; the guys eccentric and unpredictable and there was always doubts whether he'd go through with it

But tbf we don't know the contract or the stipulations agreed. I guess it's like agreeing to buy a car only to find out the mileage has likely been clocked. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't buy the car in that situation, certainly not at the original agreed price

Interestingly he replied to this 7 hours ago then decided to cancel the deal

So he's pulling out because hurty feelings? Have you read his feed? He's a troll who tweets stupid **** daily knowing he's going to get 1000s of offensive replies but he's pulling out of a multi $b deal because people said nasty things :clownface

Twitter literally wants to enforce the deal lol

Its almost like the Twitter board have a duty to their shareholders to get the very best deal they can and there is a contract from someone to buy the shares for $44b. Why would they possibly want to enforce that deal?? :clownface

But in this case, there's no evidence to support Musk's claim about the number of bots on Twitter. He's repeated the claim many times, but never presented any evidence for it. Musk supporters are just going along with it because they hate Twitter and want him to win the battle.

The reality is that Twitter holds the whip hand, and Musk is now in a fighting retreat. Whatever the outcome, Musk loses and Twitter wins.

@Energize, are you going to correct your thread title or do I have to ask a mod to do it?

He literally signed the 'im a thicko clause' which said he'd forego any due diligence. It was the dumbest deal in the history of deals.

I think it's clear which group of people are the one's who feel a sense of hatred towards anything and anyone they disagree with.

Says the guy who immediately accused @200sols of being a "lefty who was a danger to the country" because he had a different opinion to you on something

:clownface

So, yea its very clear who that applies to

You might have missed my edit, so you think that's a perfectly acceptable way for a Govt minister to behave and not a scummy thing for her to do?
I do not know the circumstance, so will not comment except to say that there may have been some unpleasant examples of members of the public there and she may have lost it a bit. We all do at times.

Ah well, i had hoped he''d change the cesspit that's pulling the world apart into a somewhat decent place. But I guess normal service has resumed and carry on the madness. *shrugs sholders and see what's on TV*

So you wont comment on her actions apart from making a comment to try and justify them. Gotcha
