The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

I do not justify it and she did lose it. Neither of us know enough to have a conclusion.

Au contraire. I know being such a fervent Boris supporter has dulled your sense of probity and decorum but a handy little reminder is that MPs (and others in professional occupations) are supposed to conduct themselves in a befitting manner at all times, especially when representing their employer.

Agreed, I too have worked in a profession. All I will say in conclusion is we do not know if provocation was given and however professional we are in normal interactions sometimes it can be too much just to turn the other cheek. I am finished with this discussion.

Since the day this deal was announced everyone knew we would end up here with Musk pulling the plug and twitter taking him to court it was all so predictable yet still his supporters act like he was working in good faith ……

I thought the bots thing was an excuse a few weeks ago and posted as such, what you've said there doesn't make much sense though. You can't really claim everyone knew he'd pull the plug and it was so predictable when you were posting from the complete opposite perspective at the time, hoping that Twitter would be ruined by Musk, implicit assumption that it would go through.

I'd take the money and run if I was a significant shareholder, that is an utterly insane some of money. The hopefully Musk takes the controls off and breaks it so badly it gets regulated to death it's a win win Musk loses a fortune and the world is free from twitter!

Seems like I was right all along, this was initially a publicity stunt by Musk. He wasn't expecting Twitter to agree, then was tempted to buy them and decided to go ahead with it, then reality hit and he realised he has no business running a social media company, he wants to be the meme king of Twitter, not the guy running it. So he found his excuse and is pulling the plug.

What a drawn out series of events. I've sort of lost interest now, the only thing that is certain to me no matter which way I look at it is that Twitter's credibility and subsequent value had has taken a knock. Also, the melting down is well and truly ubiquitous at this point depending on the day and/or ones reading in to the different parties' actions.

How can twitter's value (it is morally desolate, like musk) have taken a knock when your beau can't or chooses not to buy it even though he said he wanted to and signed a contract to that effect?

You 'losing interest' is of no consequence or surprise.

e: nice thread name change to the mod who did so :) x

What a friendly opener, have I wronged you in some way recently?

My point is that it seems that more of spotlight has been put on the whole fake accounts thing, which has - as it appears from their market value - dented the business. My losing interest doesn't have to be of consequence, or surprise... I never professed that it should, I'm just saying how I feel about it.

It's suddenly ok to harass government ministers with hatred and personal attacks on a daily basis, as if they weren't just people going to work. I guess when you're accustomed to calling people scum then it's perfectly fine to no longer treat them as humans.

Twitter was at peak valuation just before Musk got involved. Seems he is a bad omen for institutional Investors. Just check his meme stock TSLA

You must have people on ignore. Plenty in here doing 'melt down' and pretending they dont care as twitter is crap anyway. lolol

Its like all of a sudden they are aware of bots. It is laughably alt wing.

You're so weird man, going through everyone's replies you disagree with and reacting with "Haha". This is the kind of thing 14 year olds probably do to bully each other on Facebook, you're always welcome to drop me a PM if you want instead of harassing with reacts

Didn't you look up someones Twitter?

I mean by "look up" it was literally typing the OcUK username into Twitter which I had open in a second tab, following pages of being called a racist for being pro-Brexit. Not like I did anything except laugh at the content

Well whatever man, I wish you good health. A bunch of you seem to be seriously on the verge of losing the plot though. "Your side", "my side" - the conversation pattern is the same.

Are you talking about the Jordan Paterson free speech thread? If so I got banned for trying to post my free speech.

Makes great reading tho innit. Watching grown men have these ridiculous arguments over something that will never affect them in any way whatsoever is fantastic, they could charge for this kind of thing.

It does beg the question though of how comfy their lives must be if this is the kind of thing they decide to get angry about :D
