The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Just reading that apparently some people can't get the app to save that the setting is off, which suggests some great QC, and reminds me that he got rid of the specialist teams for IOS and Android apps a long time ago (which some seemed to think was a grand idea as "why do you need them"), so it's probably been coded by someone who hasn't got the experience and not checked like it would have been at one point.

This is before the whole insanity of peer to peer calling where you have to opt out from being called by random people on one of theses apps, and the fact that it exposes your IP address whilst it does it.
I remember one of the main reasons apps moved away from direct P2P with exposed IP's for things like voice calling/messaging was because of the security/privacy risks involved (IIRC a lesson that from memory was adopted way back in the ICQ/early pre MS skype days).

Same comment to that though - it's gone from Twitter only has weeks or even days left before it's all over to; spaces is quite buggy and there are annoying spam bots.

By all accounts Twitter came close to collapse. There was a series of major outages and there have been some incredibly serious bugs (including one that exposed private messages).

You’re right though, it’s business decisions that are causing Twitter to slowly die: the name change, upsetting advertisers, the bloated features and the lack of authentic users.

You ve actually seen you post this exsct thing about twitter and these old comments a few times now over the recent months. You're really set on pushing this narrative some reason. How odd.

What are you waffling about? Recent months? It was 2022 when there was an expectation among a bunch of people that the site wouldn't stay up for much longer so RIPTwitter trended and people said goodbye... now in 2024 the criticisms are about a bot problem and spaces not working well.

That's what I've pointed out, it's pretty self-explanatory what I've referred to and yet here you are popping up multiple times with some vague objection and apparent amnesia.

Wrong thread, this is the Elon sucks thread bro. How very dare you state the obvious, logic isn't allowed in here

He also very nearly fell foul of the regulators, in his "open everything (well everything he wanted about people he didn't like) up to 'journalists'" stage he very nearly got Twitter in really deep trouble in the US (let alone Europe), it was only the fact that apparently a couple of the last remaining members of the team that understood the law and conditions under which Twitter was obliged to run (after previous accidental/non purposeful privacy issues) fought back/disobeyed him that saved it from some very serious issues.

TBH it's a credit to the original twitter team that it's running as well as it is now despite Musk getting rid of people at random, but the problems he's having with the likes of advertisers and regulators also show exactly why Twitter had so many "non engineers" because an "engineer" or "programmer" is a very different skillset to the person who understands advertising and how to get advertisers to buy space, or how the law on obscenity or child protection works even just in the US, let alone other countries.

I also wonder how long it’ll take for all of the non-payment lawsuits to bite. Just yesterday the former executives filed a lawsuits for hundreds of millions, seemingly on the basis of what Musk told his biographer.

Almost 1m likes on the Tweet lol. Another factually incorrect take from Grim5, at least you didn't copy and paste this one from, ironically, Twitter though

Millions of people liked Trump's posts when he was on Twitter, doesn't mean he wasn't/isn't a massive douche. That you put so much on likes is very odd. Also I bet 1/3 are bots.

Unwashed potato (with an exclamation mark for God knows what reason) attacks me and one of my posts, Colonel Sanders turns a post about Twitter and Facebook into one about Trump. I wonder if unwashed potato!!!! hates me more than Klinck hates Trump - probably not

I've just seen someone on Facebook who's profession was listed as 'stay at home parent' for 5 years without a hint of irony criticise the amount of tax Elon Musk has paid, which poster on here is it?

I don't hate Trump, I just don't like malignant narcissists. They aren't nice people.

You have an issue with a parent being a parent? My mum stayed at home when we were young, worked part time as we got a bit older. What is wrong with that? Does that mean you aren't allowed an opinion on the richest in society and how much they contribute? I'll never quite understand your defence of the mega rich, you almost seem to idolise them. You've accused me of being jealous of Elon's money because I criticise him, I wonder if you aren't envious.
