The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Elon not quite so happy with how the google/DeepMind rival he helped found has turned out.. he resigned from the board a few years ago because of a conflict of interest re: Tesla (which obvs makes heavy use of ML/AI)... now Microsoft has got it's paws in... perhaps stepping away from this + the focus on twitter could be quite a big regret for him:

Also, this rationalist/AI doomer guy who has been getting rather angry about OpenAI recently, is already not a fan of Elon at all:

Oh look, what's this...

Thank god someone reputable cleared that up for us. I was worried you'd quote someone that couldn't be trusted. Though Elon still doesn't say why he deleted the tweet, the one that Biden out performed him on. Has Elon spun that one yet?

Tapped out or found the thread run it's course a long time ago.. the past few months have been the same 4 or 5 posting anything remotely negative linked to musk, be it Tesla/spacex etc. Hell given the vast majority of the last few pages (with the forum set to 100 posts per page) are deleted posts where the thread was dragged off topic by those same numpties why would I bother reading it? It's just the same crap over and over again with the same people spouting the same rubbish.
Lol 2 hours later, you're not even tagged, and you're replying in a thread you've tapped out of. Got it.

And there's more. You're so tapped out, that you know what the content of those deleted posts were. Amazing.

this image might explain better:

This dumpster fire is absolutely hilarious, the entertainment alone is worth (Musk's) $44b

Also, where's Roar? He simping for someone else nowadays?
He's not the richest man anymore so effectively worthless in prosperity worship land but Arnault doesn't whine constantly so there's nothing to talk about, plus he's French.

Wouldn't surprise me if something happens in the not to distant future that logs out users and they have problems logging back in so requiring 2FA and those using SMS will be screwed and forced to either kiss their account goodbye or sign up.

I imagine most will just kiss their account goodbye.

I don't think Elon understands what the product is and who the paying customer is when it comes to social media.

What Elon does understand is that twitter is currently irreplaceable. The issue he doesn't realise is, the appitite for a replacement grows every day thanks to Elon, and on top of that, twitter is unnecessary, it can easily just not exist and people's lives don't really change. Users may just delete twitter, not replace it with anything, and never come back.

they're just disabling 2FA automatically for none-blue SMS users

It's a hard life being unable to afford your text message bill.

Mind you, anything that costs anything right now is unaffordable so watch this space for more QoL features being restricted to subscribers only.

i think that's the trouble. He's acting in a way that he has zero money and is cutting everything back to save money, regardless of the reason the thing exists in the first place. companies worth 44 billion wouldn't normally worry about rent or the SMS bills to ensure better user experience. but elon seems to only see the cost and not the benefit any more. There will be waste, perhaps he could negotiate a better SMS rate with the supplier etc, but to cut it to all nonblue members is jsut plain stupid.
