4qman, I assume your on the 166 divider with that ram, try what n3x did. let us know if prime runs for longer.

Yeah ive tried it on way loose timmings and way below speeds./133 divider. Its crazy it must do more. IT WILL DO MORE.lol

Ive had it burning in all night at 3Ghz 1.42v (Windows Reading) so im gona try it now. I had my X2 Burning in and it made a difference. Ill soon see.

How much difference did you see?
I see someone says to burn it in @ stock volts/speed...and another says @ best OC...can't make up my mind about this.

Well, I'm using the 2/01 divider on the RAM when OC'ing the CPU so I think it should be out of equation.
Hmm, gonna plug that 623-3 bios you are using and copy your settings right off...It just CANT be that much difference in our CPU's...but then again, if you have sucky sticks and we know the memcontroller CAN be tricky + those DFI boards aint that happy mating with them Kingston RAM's...I'm pretty sure it's the sticks thats gotta go.

btw, did you burn in your CPU in any certain way?

if your ram is that hyperx pc3200 low latency stuff you'll be running tccd to, although i'm pretty sure they dont use brainpower or enhanced jedec pcb's like most, think kingston make there own. maybe thats a factor, still excellent ram though!

I didnt burn-in or do any initial stress tests, just went for the overclock and left it priming, although after that prime session I messed again with the ram settings to the ones I copied out onto this forum and I could get it to prime at an extra 5mhz which finally got me to 3ghz. i'm not sure if it was the dram adjustments or the prime session that did it.

I'm pretty interested to see how 4Qman gets on

Yes, over at DFI streets MEM guide they have clearly stated that Kingston modules aren't recommended...with RED text and all
It is TCCD so that leaves the pcb to consider, could be..., I HOPE it is..

On the other hand I have now reached 420mhz HTT, and that suggests that the MB is quite happy with components...oh well...

I'm waiting as well for 4Qman's report, maybe you can manage to squeze out a few more mhz after some burning in... :D

Ok i had it burning in for 8Hrs and it holds out a little longer in Prime but will fail after a few minutes. I uped the voltage to 1.6v and it primed for over an our but then failed.

Burning in im sure had helped a little but only with the voltage increased, i couldnt get it primeing at 3Ghz at 1.65v last time so its done somink..

To be honest Burning it can take days. Ive allways OC the chip and then run it on the lowest voltages that will boot and use CPU Burnin.

So i was booting at 1.42v at 3Ghz then Burnining. Ill try lower Volts tonight and Burnin again. "IT WILL DO 3GHZ".lol :D

Bummer.., but from what i've read it takes some 30+ hours of burnin so I guess it wasn't enuff.

I'm gonna order me some new sticks and I'll be damned if I can't reach same results as Hesky82..."brotherchips" and all..

Talke about kicking a man when he is down.lol

Na they are awsome results mate, i can have this chip priming for hours at 2.9Ghz but doesnt hold out on Prime at 3Ghz.

Im going to get the rig on Burn again at 3Ghz 1.42v or lower if it boots
into windows. I might even see if there is a dos version of Burnin and go lower.

As it will load windows at 1.4v 3Ghz but then crash.

your determined, I'll give you that!
hope you get that 3ghz target, I'm sure you will

yup nice oc zixiazhang, seeing as your a dfi guy 2, it would be cool if you could share your ram settings, voltages, cpu type etc... always interested to see other peoples configs

Ok am i correct in saying that the stepping means

"CABYE is the Batch/Grade and 0540 is the Year/Week"

This is how ive allways understood it.

Thanks.

Also i got a Dos version of CPUBurnin and it underway as we talk on the
rig. @ 1.4v 3GHZ. im going to hold out and not touch it untill the minimum of tomorrow night. Its going to be tough as i want to play BF2 already.lol

Merry Xmas Lads

Well my CAB2E 0545 isn't happy. At 2.8GHz it needs way too much voltage for my liking. I've stepped back to 2.6 for a Prime95 burn. It could be the DFI NF3 because it has about a bazillion settings so finding the sweet spot could take a while. I've still got the IHS on and I'll be looking to remove that next week.

yup sort of, cabye is the stepping and the last bunch of numbers after the yr/week is the batch code usually 50XXX. I think thats right.

how random is this?! I've just been running a prime95 blend test for about 2 hours just to test diff ram settings at 3g, was happy so I halting prime and straight after it went to the dreaded BSOD
anyone else think this is strange?

Similar things has happened to me when using clockgen, after a successfull spi1m I tried to lower the speed and..BSOD.
Must be coz your in the borderline and balancing, sometimes when I get repeted errors in spi1m I just restart the app...and it's ok again.
Could be a memleak or something...dunno really.

Anyway, I pulled a old crappy Infineon 256mb module from my server and replaced those HyperX modules and now I'm stable 2.95ghz @ stock volts..if raised to 1.425 I'm all stable on 3ghz as well...this is a happy dude running CPU burnin @ 0.992 volts for some 8 hours now...hopefully that will help some.
Will also have a go at burning it @ stock volts for some 8 hours.

Kingston sucks!

Also ive allways been able to Super PI 32MB at 3Ghz with 1.5v. But it fails Primes after a few mins.

Ive lowered the Burnin to 1.4v now at 3Ghz on my CABYE 0540. I never ues to be able to boot at a 1.375v at 3Ghz and its doing it now so another night Burn in gona help again. :D

Ace! I really didnt think it was your ram! seen as it overclocks pretty well.
Glad you found out what your weak link was!!
Thats pretty much identical to what im getting! Its just windows is driving me mad! it will prime at 3ghz stock volts with both the blend memory intensive test and fft cpu test and it will sit there happy priming away hour after hour. Then the next time I run my pc windows will tell me the system recovered from a serious error (which it never had) or I get that blue screen. All this intensive stress testing it futile, it seems to me you have fully succeeded in overclocking your system only when windows finally becomes happy lol.

oh yeah, clint what are you using for board drivers?? I'm still running the drivers that came with the dfi board, ran a few bench marks like 3dmark2005 and I noticed my cpu score was only a little better than my 2gig winnie
In contrast its aquamark3 score completely and utterly obliterate my previous winnie and x800xtpe score. didnt think 90k was possible with a stock clocked 850xtpe
