Ep1 was amazing. The best 5 hours of any game EVER, imo. The pacing, the action, everything is just soooo good. Many people agree with me, but many don't. It is very strange how people have such polar opinions of it. Much more so than pretty much any other game i can think of (after the Halo series.... but then part of the hate for that is due to it being so over hyped).

Ep2 is completely different in setting to Ep1. A lot of the game is spent in big open environments. Hugely different to the tight, claustrophobic areas of Ep1.
Ep2 is gonna also be almost twice as long as Ep1.

That, coupled with TF2 (amazing) and Portal (interesting) make it a bargain, even if you do already own HL2 and Ep1. For those that don't want to pay for HL2/Ep1 again, the Black Box will be available, or at least the games will be available separately... though for a higher price than the package.

To be honest from my first impression I think it will be - especially from a clan style gameplay point of view. And then the dustbowl public I played last night was absolutely awesome and the whole server was saying it.. It certainly exceeded my expectations. I had hopes and I definately wanted to give the mod a fair chance of succeeding by telling people about it but realistically I never thought it would amount to much, however I think the mod team may have proved me wrong.

Apart from if you like the cartoon graphics I don't know what TF2 will offer that will be better now after my first impressions - and it's only a matter of time before someone makes a cartoon texture pack for FF anyway just like people did for TFC.

played FF last night, Wireplay servers woo!
Couldn't get on a dustbowl server though, constantly full so I played 2 other maps, great game though. Going to be fun seeing who plays what in the future!

Must admit with the weak dollar I'm tempted to order this rather than getting it on DVD.

I do think they ought to give TF2 to HL owners for free though, given that it was promised (TFC was just a stop gap release to try and appease all the TF players who were expecting to get TF2).
 
Many of you have asked for a way to track your stats while playing TF2. Rest assured that no gib will be forgotten: starting Monday, your Steam Community profile will include a detailed breakdown of your TF2 player statistics.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting your picture of Steam.
I'd never heard of that Ravenholm Lost Chapter mod, and seeing as Ravenholm was such a great level, I googled, downloaded it, and installed it for a go myself.
I'd still not have known it existed without you posting your picture.

Anybody else recommend any other "must have" (single player) mods?

Thats not Orange Box you get with the 2900XT's, it's the Black Box, so you dont get HL2 and HL2:EP1, but I guess its like the Orange Box if you allready have em :p

How is your steam black? How do you change the colour and stuff of it?

Does anyone use this Steam community thing?

Another mod I like is "Cinematic Mod V4.0", which increases the resolution of the characters very dramatically, but it weighs in at a hefty few gig.

Go to File -> Settings, then hit the 'Interface' tab, the go down to the third drop down list ("select the skin"), and select 'Flat - Obsidian'
