Just got my old CDs out and installed it again, after playing that Alien MP game it was calling me.

i noticed theres a 451 patch out, so i downloaded and installed that, and now my game runs extremly slow.

should i run it in D3D or OpenGL? tried both and its the same.

anyone still playing this or wants a game soon? :D

got a E2180 (dual core)

think i should have kept patch 436 on, not sure.

The 451 patch is intended for servers, best to stick with the official 436 for clients. Definitely use the OpenGL (or D3D8) renderer that Shi linked to. Also be aware that you'll need to mess with power saving settings to stop your CPU clock from changing as UT doesn't handle it very well, and AMD's dual-core optimiser might be needed as well.

i think we need a step by step guide to get UT working under windows XP and vista on todays hardware lol

i got my CPU running degault speed, do i need to get a different speed to use this game then? sounds darft, but im willing to give it a go
 
sorted it , just done the win95 compatablity mode jobbie , works like a fish on water now
 
seems to run fine in win95 mode, so whats all the other stuff about for?
the only thing i cant do is change the res to my native res or near to it (ws or non ws)

And its just as good as i remebered it, im hooked once more!
 
Sounds like an appallingly easy solution, might have to give it a go :p. There are various other ways around the CPU speed issue, but if compatibility mode works then fair play. It's still worth getting the new renderer, for one it'll let you select the right res without messing with ini files, and it also has loads of performance and image quality tweaks including native AA and AF support. There's no official tweak guide as such, but you'll find loads of useful info at the BU UT forum.

P.S. Be sure to try out the Infiltration mod ;).
 
You need to set CPU affinity for UnrealTournament.exe when it is running - assign it to one CPU. Also, disable Intel Speedstepping in your BIOS.
