The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

My Asus Dual OC 1070 has the same clock speeds as the MSI Quicksilver and it usually hits 2000 in boost mode according to the Asus Tweek app, it was in the high 1900s until I changed to a bigger better ventilated case recently.

I have just ordered a Quicksilver myself from the previously mentioned source so it will be interesting to do a direct comparison as the Quicksilver has an extra 6 pin power connection.

I am happy with the Asus but couldn't turn down the backplate and RGB lighting given how mad the second hand prices are I may even make a few quid on Ebay with the Asus. :D

I'm amazed with the Quicksilver, it's a stonking card, the cooler is outstanding.

It is, isn't it.

This is the first MSI Dual fan card I've had, and I'm more than impressed with this cooler.

Highest I've ever seen mine (when I was stress testing it @ 2012Mhz/100% continuous in our recent heat wave), was 65c. and I only wanted to see that to see the LED's turn red! (I use MSI LED Tool)

And it's so quiet!

I wasn't expecting it to be honest as I had the 980 with what looks like the same cooler and it was ok but nothing special, but it's brilliant on the Quicksilver as you say.

Did any of you grab your quicksilver a few days ago when it was massively reduced? (think it was around £310).

Yes, it was £311. It is showing a delivery date of 21st to 27th July but they often turn up early.

The real quandary is that I have ordered an Evga 1080 TI SC Black Edition for £608 today so just need to decide if I am going to upgrade my monitor to a 1440p or stick with the 1070 and my 1080p one or go SLI.

This is why I went console only for a few years as it easily has the ability to bankrupt the weak willed like me. :D

I saw that 1080ti deal too. I would sell/return both your 1070s and keep the 1080ti, then get a 1440p 144hz screen. I also tried to buy that reduced quicksilver but it kept saying it was max 0 cards per customer, and as such couldn't grab one. Annoying.

I grabbed mine at £389 when it was actually in stock a week ago. Thought that was a good deal, £311 is insane , when did it drop again, last I checked it had creeped up to £395.

If you do have any luck with amazon, might give it a try as well. Was happy with £389, but no harm to ask.

Fair enough. Telecaster, what did you specifically say to get your partial refund? They aren't budging for me.

Cheers.

That £311 price was a prime member exclusive offer when I looked, and as a prime member I told them I was extremely frustrated that the price had changed so drastically in the matter of two days since I ordered it, and that I would be reconsidering the renewal of my prime membership if that is the way they treat their regular customers.

This was the reply I got:

Just tried your exact wording, got back:

I'm afraid that might have been different situation maybe the item was damaged or the shipment arrived late.
However as per the policy changes we do not have the option to issue partial refund for a price match of the item. As the details on the website keeps on changing daily.

"The refund must have been done due to many reason as the item might have turned out defective. If the agent who have provided the partial refund for price matching the item. There will be action taken against him however in this case I do not have the option for partial refund."

No luck it seems.

Bought a MSI Armor 1070 a few weeks back when they could be had for £330 and fitted my Prolimatech MK-26 cooler. Ambient temperature is currently 28.3c so I've had to turn the fans up to maintain a steady 2152Mhz clock at max 59c. Card only has a single 8 pin connector so just goes to show that it's the quality of cooling on these cards that makes the difference not the number of power connectors.

Using a 1070 with a 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor and pretty happy - the only game I've had to turn settings down at all was Deus Ex: Mankind Divided I'm keeping the rest of the money until something better than the 1080ti comes along.

As a lot seem to have bought the same msi, may as well ask here rather than a new thread. Is there any point to registering an MSI card? Looking on their site it doesn't seem like you get anything, the small warranty extension doesn't apply to gpus and they a have 3 year anyway which is plenty.

Did others register, do you get anything or is it just for msi to spam you?

I registered mine with MSI, I thought the additional 3 months did apply but evidently not. In terms of Spam I've not had anything from them since registering, I probably opted out and they've kept to this. Reason for registering is that I'm intending on keeping the card for it's 3 year warranty period and the retailer is only responsible for the first year so it made sense to do this now while I can lay my hand on the paperwork.
