The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

Anyone know the estimated price for the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming?

Probably around 400-420 quid at a guess. I'd budget that much for it anyway. If it comes in at less than that then you won't complain.

Personally I'm still torn between the 1070 and the 1080. Some of the 1070's benchmark scores at 2k are a bit of a concern and I wonder how good it might look in 12 months from now.

Less than that. Have a shop around for the 1080 G1 actual price ;)

Yeah its cheaper than the Founders but you have to remember that profit potential is likely to be smaller on the 1070 and demand is likely to be even greater.

Its the natural progression from the 970 and 980 and the 970 is the most popular card for enthusiasts in the rich countries at the moment.

If it does come out at less than 400 then that's great but I can't see it being all that much less.

For example? The only game I've seen were it hasn't maintained 60FPS is The Witcher 3. Unless you're looking for more FPS than that.

We're obviously looking at different reviews. I'm seeing-

Division - 55 av 44 min
Division (another review) - 52 av 31 min
Division (again another review) - 52 av 36 min
Witcher 3 - 55 av 45 min
Far Cry 4 - 50 av 40 min
GTAV - 52 av 36 min

We are talking about 2560*1440 yes? Obviously settings used are going to make a big difference.

Yeah, standard 2K.

Had a look at all the reviews I could find and found the benchmarks you're referring to.

Honestly quite annoying that they don't just use a standard for all reviews, Eg. max settings possible.

Anyways it seems to range from 50-60+ depending on SMAA (which I personally think is barely needed at 1440p, maybe 2x max.) Will just have to see. I'm still fairly confident it can maintain 60FPS without sacrificing settings too much, especially when overclocked.

The point is that many of those games are over a year old at this point. You shouldn't really need to compromise on settings with them on a £400 next gen card.

Personally I'm really not too sure about the 1070. It's often benchmarking lower than the 980ti and it seems like too much for 1080p but not quite enough for 2k.

That seems to be the opposite of what I am seeing , stock for stock.

There is like one graph in that entire review that puts the 980Ti ahead. The rest the 1070 is on a par or faster ( most of the time ever so slightly faster), with decent 10-15% gain on the 980Ti in DX12.

Same here - faster in every graph -

In fact from my reading of quite a few reviews the 1070 seems on average about 5% faster than a 980 Ti and 10-15% faster in DX12

The Hardware Unboxed video on YouTube suggests otherwise. I suppose CPU could be playing a part in it but I'm not sure how.

Like another poster said earlier though it doesn't help that different reviewers are using different settings. Realistically they should just all be maxing every parameter or using the ultra preset because that's the only way to ensure parity.

Any solid news on AIB versions of these yet?

All we've seen is intros to the cards which is kind of pointless since they look the same as the 1080s.

We'll probably only see prices once they're available for preorder on the 10th. Same for clocks, I'm guessing

Kind of annoying there isn't announcements of pricing.

It would be nice to be able to arrange $$ so I'm ready to pull the trigger. Likelyhood is now I'll be waiting until end of month for paycheque before purchasing. Granted by then I'll have had 15 days of release and got some feedback and the various models and types and any immediate issues with third party stuff.

I'd imagine it will be a choice between Evga, MSI and Gigabyte for me, most likely leaning towards MSI, unless there is massive price differences.

AOC 24" GSync monitor due to me shortly, todya or tomorrow (picked up the one that went on BGrade sale) so I'm very much excited to get these new parts hooked up and give it a whirl :)
