The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

Well how far back do you go in pursuit of good value? Most people have a performance target they want to hit. If you're coming from a 970, is the 480 really that interesting?

Look past the price and it does seem rather underwhelming :(

I'm going to wait for benches, but at this point it seems likely my Freesync monitor will be running on NVidia soon.

I'd hate to have just pre-ordered a GTX 1070, the RX 480 is almost half the price and I'd say no less than 80% the performance.

You always have to pay a higher percentage in price than you get for performance. The 1080 is only 25% faster than the 1070 but commands a £220 premium.

People comparing the 1070 to the 480 are just caught up in the hype. The most we can hope for is that 480 sales make the price of the 1070 come down in July.

I think the real competitor for the 1070 will be the 480X, which seems to be in the middle of a 1080 and TX if the rumours are to be believed. In which case it could steal the show from the 1070 if priced competitively

I think I will still get the 1070, but it's frustrating to think I'm paying so much more for comparatively a small about of FPS gains compared to the 480.

Problem is I am aiming for VR performance. So there really is an appreciable performance threshold that I have to hit regardless of the price.

At the very least, since I am on holiday for two weeks in June, I will wait until I'm back and see how the dust is settling with benchmarks etc.

The RX 480 is the 480x isn't it?

Just Crossfire the RX 480, only $19 more and the RX 480 is 5.83 TFlops.

For VR I think the pascal optimisations for VR will give it more of a lead over the 480 than the small gap shown in the one benchmark - for VR at least.

Based on the price of the 1080 Gaming X it could end up being one of the most expensive models. Obviously been taking some tips from Asus about charging a fee to have their name written on the packaging.

Oh dear MSI, enough with the Black and Red please. We moved past that.

By comparison I'm glad EVGA made an effort to change design (not sure I like it, but at least is different - Msi had the same looking thing since the 970).
