Sweet - I did exactly the same thing about 6 months ago. Found 1070 struggling at uw res. Most modern games run about 80/90 fps now.Picked up the Asus strix OC 1080Ti, had a 1070 before but it’s struggling to run PUBG at 3440x1440 maxed out.
Should be a nice boost.
Just picked up an EVGA SC Black, joining the top consumer tier/*80ti club for the first time. It replaces a 960 2gb in my [email protected], and is in preparation for Ryzen 3000 and a hopeful 1440p >60fps Linux gaming rig. We'll see what i get but i've a feeling this 1080ti won't be the limiting factor, if any.
The more I look at newer releases the happier I am with my 1080ti. It was a fantastic buy.

I've just upgraded mine to a 2080 Ti. Probably a mistake but I really wanted to push some more frames in Apex Legends and some others where the 1080 Ti struggled to reach 120 fps consistently, plus start playing with Ray Tracing stuff. It's been a fantastic card, probably one of the best I've had in the last 15 years.
Ok Pascal owners are you ready to upgrade yet?
No?
Come on, join the fun... /s
Can't believe I'm still rocking this card, nearly 3 years now.
It just doesn't struggle with anything at 3440*1440 100fps. I bought an extended (5 year) warranty and genuinely think it's just as well I did.
I almost wavered for 2000 series but it just can't be justified... plenty of longevity in the 1080ti for sure.
