The Pascal GTX 1080 Ti Owners Thread

any coil whine?

You can hear the chokes, but it's more reserved than the reference boards. My issue currently is it seems to be getting it's arse handed to it by my old Titan X, think this card needs water. Although temps are sublime for air. Max I've seen is 65c under load, fan isn't intrusive.

(there is a valid reason I have both)

heh, no Pascal Titan X (non Xp)

Good 5 or 6 fps slower in Super Position at the same clocks than my EK blocked TX. Eager to get it on water. Can't knock the cooler, though. It's a piece of art. But air is air :p

In most cases clock-clock the TX (non p) is still a few % faster than the Ti's anyway. Even both underwater.

Will be a great card to put underwater though, if just to hold its clocks slightly better.

My custom loop and SLI is gone come tomorrow, had enough for the few % at best it brings, for the time cost and effort. just hoping I don't come to regret it :p.

There shouldn't be that much of a gap. It has the same number of SM's, the memory bus situation is negated by the faster frequency. I've checked other users scores and they're more where I'd expect them to be. So there is something holding it back, it needs water ;)
What's the difference between a Pascal Titan X and Xp?

The GDDR5X memory IC and the fact it's a fully unlocked die with an extra 256 cores. Has a 4-8% advantage in best cases.

Yeah it is a strange one as like you say there isn't a huge difference. If anything on the benches id expect the strix to be faster due to its greater power delivery. I know my Ti ref even underwater throttles quite heavily due to power/voltage limitations below 1900mhz in some cases on the heavy benchmarks.

Gaming can drop for 2050 to below 2000mhz. One of the reasons I decided to swap my card for a custom one.

Just out of curiosity what kind of clocks does the strix hold in games and benches once warmed up? How does it OC?

Only played with it for a couple hours last night, but 2050 seems stable, 2100 bench stable if you can keep the core cool enough. Water will help. Most will do about the same. My TX with the core sitting at 30c on water will do 2100 all day long.

Gigabyte Aorus turned up but i'm not overly sure on it. Card is absolutely huge but one thing put me off straight away and that is one of the pads is hanging half way off one side of the mosfets I think. So rather than risk it dying/overheating and messing around returning and ordering another as it would be always in my mind. I'm not willing to strip it to put it right either as rather not risk it, nor should I have too.

Have ordered an MSI Gaming X which will be here tomorrow. Suits my red build better as the aorus orange was a bit off putting for me although it is a lovely looking card in general.
