****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

If that Philippines video is real, then looking on the back, it seems the power connector is not the IEC kettle lead type but the figure-of-eight portable stereo type of connector. So they could be using a smaller power supply (same as is on the PStwo) but still have it internal.

EDIT: I believe it's called an IEC C8 connector.

But I could be spouting a load of rubbish (as usual).

In my opinion those slim pictures make it look really tacky. I don't like the matte finish that has been put onto it and that PS3 logo looks dreadful. I really do hope it doesn't look like this and if it does then I'll take advantage of the probably price drops on the old units and get one of the fat PS3's to replace my uber unreliable 360.

It is. People say it's not a problem but with some setups like mine (console on a shelf) it has no where to go.

and MS design consoles purely for your need? mines fine tucked away under my desk by my multi plug. this isn't a thread for 360 bashing, it's for discussing the PS3 nearly slim ;) (which i may well buy if it coincides with a FF7 remake announcement and/or is £300 or less)

Hopefully, it's much smarter to have it on the outside as it reduces a lot of heat.

We're having a discussion about the slim having an external supply, so it's fair enough? I have a 360 beside the PS3 on the shelf, and it's fine, but if it wasn't for the fact theres a PC under there the supply would literally be hanging in mid air. It's not specifically for me. The wire on the supply is so short its hard to have the 360 at a high height.

i know love, i'm only having a laugh (hence the ';)')

External bricks are a no-no for me. Same reason as above. My 360 is on a desk, If I were to replace it with a PS3 I'd rather it had an in built PSU. I have this OCD thing where if there's anything under the desk apart from my feet then it just annoys me.

Did the PS2 Slim not have an external PSU? To be honest, I wouldn't really care if the PS3 slim had an external PSU. As long as they change the grill like design and add PS2 BC, I'd probably buy one.

I quite like my PS3 as it is. It sits almost by itself on a large TV stand anyway and I don't take it anywhere. I'm still interested in the PS3 slim though. My main interest being if there is a PS3 slim with the reported 70% lower production costs then imagine if there was a PS3 slim + GT5 bundle for £199 for christmas? OK it would probably cost more than that but just imagine how well that would sell. Surely it would make the number 1 christmas present.

I've procrastinated so long about buying a PS3, because I'm always at my friends and she has a PS3, And before that I was around my other friends all the time on his PS3. This Slim line would give me a reason, Especially if it had BC.

A price drop or a new Model would make me buy one if i'm honest
