****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Ummmmmmmmmm my PS3 Slim does not read any of my Memorex DVD+R DL discs... My old 40gig and original 60gig read them perfectly fine..

Not sure if it's just the brand, or a new security measure Sony have put in place to minimize X264 movies over 4.7Gb being played and copied onto the HD?

DVD+R & -R works fine, but i only have Memorex DL's to test.

I have a 40gb phat which has been upgraded to 80gb, if I was to trade it in for a slim + cash, would they give me the 40gb or 80gb value?

Also to those who gave traded in their phat ps3, does it have to be boxed complete with all the gubbins? I.e manual, av cable ?

Well I know that the popular video rental store doesn't need the box/manual, but they do normally require all the cables that came with the system.

The place I traded mine in didn't check what cables were in the box. I would have got away with just the unit, controller, power lead and composite. They didn't even test it with a game the bloke just browsed through XMB.

its not the wires and stuff that is the problem

the 40gb is as you know valued a lot less so not worth me adding more cash to swap for a slim

think il just wait till this phat dies before i get one :)
 
Looks like trade in prices are dropping... they're only giving £150 for a boxed 40GB now. I'm sure it was £167 or something last week? Not sure if it's worth getting rid of my parents' 40GB for a slim...

Glad I traded my 60GB early! TIP dropped from £198 to £187.

Would never trade in my 60GB for the new slim, the trade in value of phat vs slim makes the power saving pointless as i'd still lose money, my 60gb is silent anyway and to top it off i think the slim looks cheap and tacky.

I'm actually more interested in going and buying another 60gb due to a lot of them now being traded in to be honest.
 
Sorry not sure if someone already asked, there's a lot of pages to go through - but is anyone having issues with game freezes and full system lock ups? Uncharted just crashes all the time for me so I can't play it, and I've been having some problems with SF4 today (one full system crash, and one count of the game hanging at a loading screen - but it didn't crash the system).

I get that at times on my 60gb. Mainly during FIFA.
