The Polaris RX 480 Owners Thread.

im waiting on the EKWB full cover, my EKWB Thermosphere would fit, but id need to remove the VRAM/VRM cooler/card support plate, and i dont have anything to cool them with at the moment.

My Asus 7950 Direct CU II cooler looks like it would fit too but it would be too heavy on the card i think.

I dont know why AMD didnt just use all the available space under the shroud to fit the heatsink, rather than just a very small square.

I was thinking of getting a reference and fitting a thermosphere.

Why does it not fit? What holds it off?

I get something similar to that on my 290 at the post screen. I just disabled this screen as other than that i have no problem in windows. I just put it down to being an old board problem but maybe not. It happened with my first 290 and then it's replacement so it's my setup and not the card i believe.

It was from another reference card so I had to force flash it due SubsystemIDs mismatch .

UPDATE: I've just enabled CSM (Compatibility Support Module) in my BIOS again of curiosity and it fixes the issue, so it's looking like a UEFI compatibility problem specifically on XFX BIOS's - Fantastic.

For reference I'm on a Z97 PRO (Latest BIOS 2702) coupled with a DELL U2715H previously on a GTX 980, first time I've seen this artifact with CSM Disabled

When you were experiencing this issue before you flashed z10m did you and do you now have CSM Disabled on your boards BIOS?

I know its slightly off-topic, but how much do you guys think the 1060 will cost? With all the issues from brexit I could see it easily being £250+ myself

As it appears to be related to CSM you must have had it disabled for it to artifact - If you could, can you double check into your motherboard BIOS now and see if it's still disabled, and if so it's undoubtedly a bug in XFX's vBIOS

Yeah I'll check it when I get back home tonight.
The card is in my HTPC with Z87 board but I also tried it in my gaming rig with Z170 with the same result.

Spent some time this weekend playing with Wattman and a couple of RX 480s, it is a lot of fun tweaking.

Personally speaking, i am glad that we have added voltage control to our GPUs, and this is just the start. :)

Yes, completely with you there! PC's are about tweaking, let us tweak! (especially with voltage alongside it)

I'm totally regretting this card, I've come from a 780GTX and I cant solve the issue I mentioned earlier. Tried a new DP cable but still the same. I if I change it to 120hz in windows instead of 144 it doesn't happen.

the metal plate that covers the ram and supports the card stops it. If you remove that it should fit fine, but then you have to get some cooling for the ram and VRMS. :)

Cant you not just mod the moutning plate so it will fit?

I just done this the other day to my thermosphere so i would fit a card with a faceplate ect

Nvidia GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are in the other machines and now an Asus RX480 8GB is going into the last pc.

Welcome and on TROH.:)

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your RX 480.

I'm getting artifacts as well when using 144hz.
I've seen few other people with the same problem.
Anyone here with 144hz can confirm that it's working fine for them.?
