The Polaris RX 480 Owners Thread.

New driver for me just causes the card to run at 900-1000mhz. Why oh why did i buy reference. Who the hell decided cooling 150-170 watts with a tiny aluminum heatsink was a good idea?

Is your case causing the card to reach the wattman temp limit? I only noticed the card throttling itself when I ran it at stock voltage. I was getting a better 3DMark score with lower voltage @ 1280mhz than higher voltage and higher clock just because the heatsink is god awful and can't keep the card cool enough to run even at stock speeds half the time.

I wish I never bought reference either, so much so I'm sending back and already bought a 290X 8GB instead from MM as a replacement, all the while saving myself £70. :o

Hmmm glad I ordered the Nitro...

The MM...god it's going to take me ages to get to 1000 posts...I'm mostly a reader, not a poster

For those of you getting great success with OC/undervolting, what are your ASIC qualities?

Mine is 84.7% but have yet to under volt, even though I've heard great things.

mine is 69% :(

Had some success today. I took the card apart to see if my EKWB thermosphere would fit without removing the VRAM/VRM plate, and it didnt... doh :(. However in doing this i had to replace the thermal paste and the card now runs about 5-10c cooler (lower/quieter fan speed). Still cant get the card to pass gaming tests at 1.080volts, might just leave it at 1.150 (default for my card).

78.4/82.7/80.5/89.1

Which now I think of it matches the voltages I set manually to get all the cards to operate at ~100W at constant load with similar temps (83 max, 78 target) and fan speeds.

1 card was superior, 2 cards were similar and the last was a voltage hog relatively speaking :)

Looks like an x31 and a g10 is my best bet.

What would you do about cooling vrm area?
Isn't the G10 geared towards cards where this is to the right of the core and is where the fan blows on to?

I am thinking something like x31 but not sure what the g10 would add to the party...

Mine is 84.7% too. My default voltage was 1100mV. I've not tried lower than 990mV, but it seems stable at that with slight underclock to 1240.
This does mean the fan runs at a lower rate to keep it at 80C.

why isn't gpu usage monitoring working properly on this card.?
If the card is used in less than 100% load the the usage jumps from 0 to 100% or somewhere in between and never stays at constant value as it should..?
Also temperature monitoring doesn't work in afterburner.

Is anyone else getting this at boot.?

This happens on all three different displays that I tried when using hdmi and displayport.

Also I'm getting some artifacts when using 144hz over display port.

None of this ever happened with any of my Nvidia cards.

I'm having the exact same issue with my XFX RX 480 Black Edition

Always corrupted video, colours POST - Fine thereafter - did you manage to get it sorted? Happens through a VESA Certified DP Cable & HDMI on all inputs

Yup. Flashed my 4GB card with 8GB bios which also fixed this problem. :D
And yeah mine is XFX as well.
