The Pope Says the Catholic Church is the Only True Church

Calling him a Nazi doesn't seem fair...

Following his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger was enrolled in the Hitler Youth — membership being legally required after December 1939[4] — but was an unenthusiastic member and refused to attend meetings[5]. His father was a bitter enemy of Nazism, believing it conflicted with the Catholic faith. In 1941, one of Ratzinger's cousins, a 14-year-old boy with Down syndrome, was killed by the Nazi regime in its campaign of eugenics. In 1943 while still in seminary, he was drafted at age 16 into the German anti-aircraft corps. Ratzinger then trained in the German infantry, but a subsequent illness precluded him from the usual rigours of military duty. As the Allied front drew closer to his post in 1945, he deserted back to his family's home in Traunstein after his unit had ceased to exist, just as American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. As a German soldier, he was put in a POW camp but was released a few months later at the end of the War in summer 1945. He reentered the seminary, along with his brother Georg, in November of that year.

Did he wear the uniform? Salute the flag?

Hail Hitler? Stick his scrawny wee arm out for a salute?

If any of the above, should veto your sorry ass out of being the Pope. :p

Doing those things didn't make you a Nazi.

What do you think of the Nazis? :)

Just curious :)
I can't answer that fully without going into a lot of detail which is off topic for this thread :) Suffice to say that while I do have some admiration or respect for Hitler, and the German military in WW2, ultimately he and the Nazis were a complete disaster both for Germany and for Europe. Hitler made many bad political and military decisions which ended up leading his country to ruin, and yet he and other Nazis like Goebbels blamed not themselves but the German people - who sacrificed so much because of them. Germany still suffers the effects even today, for example having a neutered military capability.

All this Pope chat reminds me of seeing Stewert Lee at Reading last year: "Officials at the Vatican said that the late John Paul II's last words from his death-bed were "Lord, I searched for you. I found you. Thank you", which I thought was quite weird, considering he was in a coma. A friend of mine was in a coma and died a few years ago - I don't remember hearing him say any last words... Still, I don't think I would have been able to hear anything through the pillow anyway"

aye, thats why i hate religion. they ALL believe that they are the true religion, therefore eery other religion and follower to be inferior or unsalvable!

if there was one true god, why would he have asked so many different groups to worship him in such different ways? leads me to believe there is no god.

oh and that man is devious beyond redemption.

Read into Hinduism.

Actually afaik, it's only Christianity and Islam which believe they are the true religion.

Broaden that to encompass all Abrahamic religions: where, in reality, do you think the conflicts in Jerusalem and Moslem anti-Semitism etc. stem from?

He didn't. Only Jews, Christians and Moslems worship the same God in a metaphysical sense, and even here we have a distinct timeline; they're simply different branches due to human deviation and interpretation and, arguably, as human will and a lust for salvation allows. Not all were devised or handed down by God from the outset as your statement suggests.

The catholic church is a dangerous organization. I strongly agree with the Act of Settlement keeping catholics off the throne. We don't want to have the pope having any influence whatsoever over someone who has the ability to block laws passed by democratically elected people.

You do realise the Sovereign can only block a law so many times?
