I do like the first one :) I was always told that for sporting events where a ball is involved one should ideally keep servo focus on the ball for the most dramatic results, I think yours works both ways here but would be interesting to see what it would have looked like with the ball in the AF zone!

Thanks for that. :)

I do have to say i was disappointed i cut off his foot from the shot and his other foot / ball was a bit soft / out of focus but other than that I like the interaction of player just striking the ball and the guys waiting to receive it in the box. One of my better sporting shots bar those two things i mentioned.

I'll see if i can improve on things next saturday :D

My first proper try with the D40 with stock 18-55mm lens bought in May.
Other than the first 2 pics, a circular polariser was used.
All done on manual settings I think, so any C&C on aperture/ISO/shutter speed improvements welcome.
Composition could be better, as could creativity.
Somehow not as sharp as I thought they would be. Done similar with a Fuji f31d p&s 2 years ago.
Must just be me. Other than the first 2 pics, location is Mauritius, where I was born and lived till I was 16.
I have some more I could upload.

Really not sure how to crop this to improve composition. Suggestions?

Lot of cropping.

Overexposed sky I think

Taken from plane on the way back. Vignetting (?) on the right - because of polariser?

Thanks for looking.

2 and 7 deffinately the best from that, the landscape version of the airport doesn't work for me, the portrait is much better. Draws you in much more,

As the for the last one, I really like it! Was the plane banking around a corner? cause thats the impression I get!

As for improving the composition of number 3, really, now you've taken the photo you're a bit limited, but have a look at the rule of thirds if you're not familar with it, as the main rock is slap bang in the middle of the shot, and looks like a generic tourist shot. however, with a bit of more thought into the composition/cropping, you could greatly change the impact the photo has (plus a little fondle in photoshop as well)...

For anyone thinking about buying the Panasonic LX3, I can confirm
its the perfect natural light compact for you;

Landscapes are also pretty good, in fact anything where you don't need a big zoom. See, I didn't want to post lots of big samples in here

Blackhawk the maximum pic size allowed is 800 pix on the longest side.

Opps sorry, i resized it and misread what you said. I will resize again later but going off now.

Heres one I took, in Devon, to the left of me is the island you can see in one of my pics above. Shame I only had my mobile phone at the time and wasn't expecting to see something so nice. :)

Been trying a few things out with Photoshop/Lightroom.

C+C a must here on this one, I can't seem to decide which is better;):D:o

Really like this shot, great perspective with the roof and it's detail

And 'awwwwwww' at the kitten! :D

My 50mm f/1.4 that has finished being bleached with UV light this morning to neutralise the yellowing of the radiated element. It should have opened me up to atleast another stop of light.

please don't quote images! *sigh*

fair enough: edited, hardly like it was a whole set though.
You're not the first and certianly won't be the last to quote photos in here, and it was only one photo - not sure why the panic stations to be honest, but I have noticed some people on the forums getting a bit to jumpy with things recently...;)

I'd like to apologise, I was a bit aggressive when you quote the image, so i'd like to say sorry. I didn't mean it in an aggressive way, but it seemed to come across like that
