Please excuse the messed around EXIF's. Trying to work out which program exports the best files. First shot is exported in photoshop as a jpeg. Second is in lightroom. Third is from photoshop again but this time saved for web. Think I prefer the final web resize.

Either a ND Grad when taking the shot or possibly a graduated filter or burn tool in PP, but obviously you need good clouds like p0ss3s3d had to begin with :)

Nice shot of sutton harbour there Abyss :D

Actually that is Ipswich marina :)

For some reason I seem to be having some problems with exporting jpgs out of Lightroom, and CS4 too. This is one I took this morning:

Lowest possible compression, yet the colours really are all over the place. Camera is set to Adobe RGB, output is set the same. I'm baffled - it happened since Lightroom updated to 2.7, but CS4 also now seems affected. Argh!

They are some great shots.

I need to learn how to do dramatic clouds like that :(

+1

Any help anyone?

BruceLee is right about needing the clouds in the first place. It was actually done with a two shot bracket. One for the highlights one for the shadows. The rest is magggiiiicccccccc.*

Lowest compression? that's very compressed at 41k. Maybe you want the other end?

Oops yes there is the bracketed option which I forgot. I went to the shops but they were all out of magic :(

Bought a new lens - Sony 18 - 250, despite getting good reviews, people insist lenses cant work well over such a range, but so far i am happy - meet Steve - taken at 250mm, cropped in with a minimal USM in PS:

The detail in the parrot shot is great. Try and play around with the composition of your shots, have a look into the rule of thirds.
Keep em coming.

As Wedge says I used a black and white layer then just used the brush tool to bring back the colour. there are loads of tutorials about.
here's one using the eraser tool.
