@Adam W - I really like it - especially the former. I'd just make one comment - to Photoshop out the grass covering her trailing calf - bit distracting.

Really good use of lighting!

cheers - i did photoshop the grass out in the second, will do it for ther first too as it is disctracting.

cheapo flashes are great fun, would thoroughly recommend the yongnuo 460II and the rf602 wireless triggers

Taken with a phone!! I thought it was a good pic, we shall see :p

With wireless triggers, can you use the flash off camera and have the on board flash off?

Really like that shot BTW, the background works really well with the model.

Yes, there are several options but typically you have to shoot manual. Expose for the background then use the flashes for the foreground.

1) trigger in hot shoe, then two flashes with wireless recievers.

2) flash in hotshoe, reciver to sync port on camera, other flash on 2nd reciever, transmitter hand held to release shutter.

3) more....

and thankfully my wife makesa good model, damn good job she is beter looking than me!

I never normally find anywhere to take photos of poppies. Turns out there are some in the fields behind my local church. I did try to get some of the church and poppies but couldn't get far enough back to use a telephoto as the wide angle just lost the church...

Don't take this the wrong way - I think each photo could be judged on its own merits, but if you wanted to put all those together then it doesn't work. There is no consistency of setting or background colours (I'd put money on at least 3 different WB being used), and if you put those in a menu whilst they'd look nice they would look like pictures grabbed off the 'net.

I guess it depends what the shoot was actually for.

1 doesn't work at all imo.

2 is fine in a way but should only have two dishes in there and on focus personally. :)

3 imo needs to be at a higher angle to see what food is actually inside those bowls.

4 is wonderful.

5 is spectacular.

6 is also appetising.

7 should be head-on instead of side way imo.

No offence was to be caused, I hope I came across as helpful. :)

No offence caused at all, always happy for a bit of C&C.

Whilst I did put all the pictures up together they wouldn’t be used all together like that on a website or magazine article. The shoot was primarily so that there is portfolio of different pictures to be used for different media and parts of the business, from the straight restaurant to events catering, I’ve got about 300 others. Some like the three white bowls are more arty in showing clean lines etc rather than the actual food.

Thanks for the comments chaps

Couple of cars from the Cotswold Airshow, not very succesful as people were swarming around them!

My old man had one of these :)

edit: The TR4A pic above looks far better on my main screen, looks a bit dull on the laptop now :(

It's tough. I decided a telephoto was the best for removing people...

I just waited for a few mins whilst people moved, poised to take the shot & since my background was just a few M wide it didn't take too long.
