I completely agree with what you're saying, I don't think the strong reflection in the water helps matters at all in the foreground as there is little contrast between the land and water.

Still plugging away at it though, few tweaks here and there still to go

The B&W version uploaded here actually looks cracking in print - got it A4 size and mounted. The impact it offers in print is pleasing but it'll still niggle me for a while :)

Here's what an unaltered version looks like, the lighting is extremely harsh as you can see (shot at wrong time of day but unfortunately I didn't have time to hang around for the sun going down!)

I think you can make out the difference between foreground and background in the original easier than the mono version. As you say the strong reflection doesn't help to differentiate the two but there is enough of a contrast difference in the original to pick it out. I can imagine it printed at a larger scale works though!

It reminds me of the scene in Lord of the Rings where Frodo and Sam are heading over the dead marshes towards Mordor!

Nope not me guv' honest!! Its an old abandoned one near me thats been closed since the 80's i think, absolutely massive and very interesting to explore :D

is right near me!! ive yet to go there with the cam tho, the missus probably wouldnt take me there lol. very fun/scary at night when you umm are intoxicated by smoking something you shouldnt be lol and running from the night guard and his dog can be interesting. (mind i havnt done any of the above for a long time now )
