Yesterday I did a backstage stills shoot at the National Film & TV School for one of my best friends who's been studying there the last 2 years. This was his first project as director of a TV show pilot.

Here are some of them, the bulk of them will be used for promo materials and things. Credits will be given of course which should hopefully lead to further business!

Anyway, I was very pleased with the AF hit rate of the 5Diii + Sigma 50 1.4 in such low lighting conditions. I left the ISO on auto but at a controlled range (100 to 6400) as the studio lighting was on and off throughout the recording and rehearsals.
Manual mode was used with 1/100 and 1/200 at f2 for 99% of the time. No flash was used (not allowed!).

I think I will need to invest in a wide angle lens with IS because while the 17-40 is brilliant for landscapes, there's too much shake when walking recoding footage and in such busy environments the FlyCam Nano is quite bulky to move around with because you have to be careful and steady with it during usage. Sometimes you have to quickly manoeuvre around camera crew and their gear. A good wide with 3-4 stops IS compensation should be adequate at filtering out vibrations and bobbing.

FWIW, it's not far off from Studio60 on how things work behind the scenes :p

I'll upload tonight at some point but I'll warn you,, Black Mesa Source is out at 4PM so I may be pre occupied!

So then, tonight's adventure into seeing if I can nab a cyclist silhouette in front of the setting sun resulted in this:

But then suddenly I did some wizardly in Lightroom and then removed some distractions in PS which resulted in this:
