The 'Post your timelapse here' thread

That's the first and last time i'm doing a timelapse manually.. lol. Don't have a timer remote, so I shot every about 2 seconds, give or take lol, for over an hour. Couldn't use a tripod, so my arm aches now :(
But i'm really pleased with the result considering it's the first time i've tried anything like this. Will have to wait until september before i can get it sorted though because i'm not at home.

Just a quick question.. do I do a batch post processing of simple tweaks? Or just leave it as is?

You took shots every 2 seconds for an hour manually without a tripod, that's 1800 clicks. lol you hero! I'd never have attempted that.

I got an interval timer remote for £20, and a nice tripod for £33 off ebay. Pretty much essential for timelapses.

It's quite easy to do a batch process for the photos, although I don't think I've bothered thus far with the few attempts I've had.

Here's a video that I took some advice on for timelapses, it includes some quick batch processing.

It was actually 2570 shots so the interval was about 1.55 seconds average haha. Never again though lol.

Yeah i was thinking of picking myself up one of those timer remotes, but not sure if i'll do many time lapses.
I have a tripod, and had it with me, but there was no space for it. :(

Nice, just letting it load now.. slow internet where i am :(

Ok i lied.. done another timelapse, but used a tripod and a remote shutter release so it wasn't too bad.. just had to press the remote 550 odd times.

I don't think it's worked particularly well because it was one where it goes from day to night.. and when correctly exposed for day, is wayy too dark when the sun drops from the sky.. how would you solve this problem?

And about halfway through some annoying little girl accidentally kicked the leg of the tripod so there's a slight jump in composition lol. I felt like punching her in the face :D but i refrained.

Finally got it sorted:

(How do you embed vimeo videos?)

Let me know what you think. :)

Well lets start with what I liked - the music and the ideas. Pretty neat seeing the night arrive in the second one with all the boats whizzing about, and I liked the fact that in the first, your tram kept catching up with that bored looking fella in the cyan top in front.

... But the amount of stops that tram had was getting slightly mind-numbing I'm afraid! I was practically yelling at the screen "GET IN WITH IT!!! RUN THE RED LIGHT!!!" which I guess isn't what you wanted to portray! Also the video quality of the first let it down for me, the second was fine, was it not possible to upload in HD on the first also? Seemed to be very pixellated.

The second got slightly too dark for me at the end also, think I would have preferred a slightly longer exposure to bring out a bit of detail of the buildings if that was possible. Go back and do it again please!

I know what you mean about the darkness in the 2nd one, it wasn't even dark in real life! But I thought for timelapses like that you had to go manual settings and keep it the same throughout? I wasn't sure how to do that without completely overexposing the earlier shots. Unfortunately it'll be a while before I do that again! I might be going back next year but we'll see.

Yeah the tram ride was a bit long, but having it at a faster fps didn't look as good. I hadn't actually watched it until you mentioned that.. I'm not sure why it's done that tbh. It was rendered as 1080p and in the settings (bottom right) it says 1440x1080. And the actually file on my pc, the VQ looks as good as the 2nd one.. so if anyone can shed light as to why vimeo done that to my upload??
The 2nd one was rendered as .mp4 and the 1st .wmv if that makes any difference. I do have the 1st as .mp4 but I can't upload it as it's 650mb and I rarely make videos so i'm not going to pay for vimeo pro.

Done a couple of star trail amalgamations, none very good though and I've only every uploaded one online.

I keep meaning to do some proper time lapses but normally when I'm at a good location I'm worrying about my battery life and memory card space. :(

I'll have a go at a couple in a minute though. :)

That's not bad, longer would have be better though :)
And you can upload videos to flickr?? Lol.

Edit: Ah it can only be 90 seconds and 500mb for pro account holders.. not enough for my video :(

Thanks. Yeah you can, randomly found out a while ago. :D

Unfortunately the way I shoot star trails isn't too condusive to creating videos, even at only 5fps I can only get about 8 seconds of video.

Reuploaded in 720p .mp4. I'm not sure if it's any better? (at least ratio format is correct). If only you could upload more than 500mb :(

Holy Thread revival Batman :P

no point in making another thread when this is still around lol

Am loving my Sony Nex5 even more as of late and now i can do time lapses with it its epic, using a "GentLED Auto" remote, google for more info or the link is here LINKY they have loads for different models

1 hours worth of photos=415@24fps in 17 secs, is there a a way of work out how many shoots for fps ???
