The 'Post your timelapse here' thread

Shot at a 'Dress like a ****head party'

Time lapse starts at 38 seconds, although the song is worth listening to if you hate hipsters

been looking to get into timelapse for a while, but don't have the money for editing software. can anyone recommend a good free bit of software to stitch it all together please

All i spent is £20 on QuickTime Pro no need to buy expensive software.

I'd love to do one of these for my son showing his day in the house (only 7 months old) as lights will be switched on and off through the day whats the best to do setting wise?? just leave it to auto?

Another thread revival. Some results of my time lapse experiments. I really want to build a panning rig and also get my hands on a auto tracking tripod attachment for long exposure stars.

1st attempt

2nd attempt

Washing the car

Heading toward the last of the warm weather in Sydney

I did a bit of timelapse stuff in some recent videos using a GoPro HD Hero 2, which is now no more.. but here is the test video and the footage I scrabbled together. Nothing too dramatic happens in the first, I was really testing the workflow I wanted and the noise on the GPro, which is quite bad at those light levels. The timelapse is 40s in on the second video if you don't want to watch it all.

Cheers Joe, my first real go at making something like that. Quite pleased with how it turned out considering the technical issues.

I tried a time lapse on a GoPro, shooting the sun going down. It didn't work though because you can't lock off the exposure. As it began to get dark, the camera boosts the exposure, so it suddenly gets lighter again.

Was that on a HD Hero 2? On mine there's a colour shift on the video about a minute in but that's where the sun disappeared, I quite liked it so left it in. Were you actually recording the sun as it went over the horizon, so once it began to silhouette it boosted the levels?

It was on my Hero 1, not bothered to try it again on the Hero 2.

Pretty much as you described, aimed right at the sun as it sets over the horizon, so just as it starts to get darker, it boosts the exposure to make it lighter. If I've still got image sequence somewhere I'll upload it to YouTube.

Shot my first HDR timelapse today after finally getting the balls to install magic lantern on my 550D. Batch processing over 1000 shots in photomatix as we speak, which will take aaaaaaages. All for about 25-30s of footage :p Very new to this timelapse lark so hopefully I'll have some stuff for you guys to see soon.

Extremely basic, no music, a pretty uninspired composition, and the wind shook my tripod a bit near the end, but here's my first go.

edit: just watched it back and YouTube has destroyed it! It asked if I wanted to correct some shakiness so I said yes. It took a perfectly stable tripod shot and made it look like I did it handheld! I'll have to reupload it when I get back home on Monday. That's what you get for rushing :p
