The Postman allways rings twice (No he doesnt, he hardly turns up) - Lazy bum

We havn't had anything since thursday last week... We live in Reading and they never turn up till after 1pm???

Surely it doesnt take from 8am to gone past 1pm to do their round.

Well the first letter is supposed to be delivered at 10.00 - 10.15am and on average a walk takes 3.5 hours.

We will be on strike on Saturday (west of Scotland).

When I were a lad.. the post was through the door by 8am every day. Now I'm lucky if it's in before I get home from work (or, indeed, delivered at all.)

Post man hasn't even been round yet (15:08) what a joke

Maybe he has a lot of signed for items with nobody in and has to write out cards for people or is having trouble gaining access to buildings with door entry systems with nobody answering ?... that's not even much over the normal finish time anyway.. that happens to me most weeks.

I've worked on a temp basis as both a Postman and a Sorter and over the last 3 years all I've seen is cuts. They have less and less staff doing more and more work, it's getting silly. My local posties have taken to posting those little red leaflets instead of actually carrying parcels now so they can get more letters in thier bags... It's anoying but I know they're working like dogs to shift the stuff.

I haven't had any post atall for 3 days now, and am expecting at least two items that I know have been sent.

****ing useless.

Hooray - Post came at 11.30 which was a shock.

None of my parcels though and considering I have not had mail for nearly 10 days, one bill and 2 spam.

Where is the rest?

Management, Unions, Posties, I do not care who is to blame all I know is that the service is becoming a little ****.

My postman never rings, not once. I work from home a lot of the time, and our post comes late afternoon, so I'm usually always in. Last SEVENTEEN packages I've have had to walk and pick them up from the depot the next morning. After SIXTEEN complaints and no response/action, I gave up.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I am crying out! LOL LOL

You sir, are a legend, got the office in stitches lol

It's interesting what people find funny. I could appreciate it was mildly droll and felt a minor internal glow of appreciation. Crying with laughter though... not quite.

My postman is great, he always knocks extra hard when he has a parcel as he knows I'm probably in bed lol

The postman tried to deliver a parcel TWO times last week. Both times somebody was in the house and no one heard a thing, and the house is tiny -_-
Waiting for a big delivery today and the boyfriend is taking the day off and is watching the front door like a hawk :p

Because the Unions refuse to allow modernisation/mechanisation, making the Royal Mail very inefficient.

My mail turns up between 3pm and 7pm now ... :/ very useful

However, I do like my local postie (though he only does the rounds 3 days a week, the rest of the week is some random postie)

I think so much depends on where you live.

The Postman at my parents place in Hertfordshire they know on first name terms, if they are out he will sign for something and hide it in a good spot, they give him a Xmas gift, and my Mum even gave him an old set of Golf Clubs a couple of weeks ago.

In Central London it's very different though.
I find with deliveries, most of the time, they don't bother bringing a package during weekdays, as they assume people are at work, so just leave cards. I've twice now had the postman in the block of flats I live in, ring the intercom buzzer, I've answered to him, told him I will be down, let him in, then when I get there a couple of minutes later, he has just left a card and f-offed! Rubbish.

Still seem to be getting the junk mail, must be easier for them to carry. Still not got half the stuff I have ordered online or bought from the MM, been waiting ages now

Add that to half the time I get other peoples post 223 rather than 233

Funny thing is it only causes themselves more work...
Having a strike in a recession; clever! Does anyone actually care?

I care.

Recession should not be an excuse for management to kick those with a job in the nuts.
:o

Back on topic. My postman delivers my mail around 1:30 - 2 pm here in Belgium.

Letters from UK (Scotland) arrive generally 2-3 days after posting. Games can take 2-3 week from when the company allegedly posts them. (Still not convinced some stores put me on waiting lists for new releases if they don't have the stock knowing they can say posted and wait for a week :D )

I have to wait until 12:30 the following day to collect a missed delivery :(

A little bit offtopic but I had my 360 sent to me via parcelforce and the guy very kindly hid the item in the red recryling box next to my door and wrote where it was on the card.

Was dreading having to go to the depot to pick it up but he saved me a load of hassle by doing that. Thumbs up for parcelforce on this occasion.

Would you be saying the same if it had been stolen from there before you got home? :p
