A mod should ban the little **** that made the first reply.

But it *is* a shame there's not many decent games, really.

Yes it is, just as it *was* a shame not many 360 games were out this far after it's launch date. But how is that relevant to this thread?

Cant be bothered to wade through all the posts but seems like a wasted experiment...only reason why i think they did it is to try and drum up more sales for the PS3 which hasnt taken off as well as Sony would have liked.

Im sure M$ could get a 360 and give it the same sort of test and it probably would still survive but thankfully M$ dont have to resort to such silliness really.

Saying that i swear my 360 that ive had since dec06 is indestructible...i think M$ must have been smiling down on me the day i bought it...its been on for the past week or so...playing games, watching a few dvds and still hasnt gone up in a plume of smoke...

Damn right, but as Joebob said, what the **** has it got to do with a thread about reliability?

neocon just wants another oportunity to **** off the PS3 and can't think of anything other than the lack of games which is sad, to say it mildly.

@Spawn, why is it a wasted experiment, maybe for us it isn't that important but if you live in Spain, Greece etc.. where it can get 40C in the summer it is a good thing to know that a PS3 will still work in extreme temperatures.

I dont no, its been out a while in america, 9 months i think, and the 360 already had oblivion, GRAW, Condemned etc

the PS3 is extremely well made BUT its a shame they had to have the stupid non scratch proof gloss covering for a case shell

yet another thread turned into a mess neocon , hope your proud of yourself again

Thought this was interesting. People pay a lot of money for those toughbook laptops - I guess this is why the PS3 is £425. At least I can feel safe in the knowledge that should my front room ever reach temperatures as high as 120F or as low as 0. (you never know with global warming) I will still be able to play on my trusty PS3. :p

Linky

Heh I test things like that for a living :) Send me a PS3 and I'll see how tough it really is, I don't suppose anyone taped any thermocouples inside to record internal temperatures etc?
The temperature rate of change seemed a bit slow to me as well, would be better to emulate a diurnal cycle with elevated temperatures. Still very impressive robustness none the less.

thats quite impressive really. 108 hours in a 100f + temperature. very few eletrical devices can claim that lol.
100F is only 38C.
A fairly standard IEC test is 5 days at 40C and 95% Rh.

The thing is, 360 had Oblivion, Condemned, PGR3, and some more at launch. Anyone who says the 360 had just as boring a launch as the PS3 needs to get their heads out of the sand.

When I got my launch 360, I didn't sit on my ass twiddling my thumbs waiting for major releases to come (which I still am for my PS3 which came out in March), I spent hours on Oblivion, Ghost Recon and a whole bunch of other games.

you could technically do that on the ps3 too , doesn't mean they're good games

i got bored of my 360 from lack of games and eventually sold it after finding myself on the ps2 more :/

i didnt buy a ps3 for the same reason

Well then you're different from all the people I know. Myself and others around me were getting extrememly fed up waiting for more 360 titles to come along. It all depends on what you like (condemned boring repetitive, oblivion no thanks, personal taste). You just can't sit there and say 'Anyone who says the 360 had just as boring a launch as the PS3 needs to get their heads out of the sand' becuase we all like different things and your choices may not always be the right ones (yowzer!) and are based upon your own personal likes and dislikes. There are only a few games on 360 atm that interest me and it's been that way for months. One mans view isn't that of another so don't try and force it on them.

People forget that when the 360 came out it was a complete new next-gen HD console, it was completely different and better than anything around it console wise. IF the PS3 had come out that that time it would have had the same reaction.

But now the 360 has nearly been out two years its got a huge selection of games whereas the PS3 is still finding its feet unfortunately.

It was all about timing of getting the consoles out and the 360 hit the world by storm, the PS3 could have done the same with its release day games in 2005 without doubt.

i dont remember there being all that many games at launch on the 360. i didnt really take much notice though and i guess some people could call me biased because i own a ps3 and have never owned a 360. but then neither console interested me primarily for its launch games. i bought my ps3 as a media machine and a stonking one it is too:) games are really an afterthought at the moment lol

The release 360 games that I can remember are:

PGR3
Kameo
Condemned
COD2
Perfect Dark Zero
Oblivion (not quite release day though was a month after iirc)

I can't recall any others, I have all the above and with the exception of PDZ, which I have not played, I enjoyed them all especially COD2 and Condemned.

yerp thats exactly the list i was thinking of. i remember being really excited by pdz and then being totally let down when i actually played it, only to realise just how damn good condemned was. the rest of the titles didnt really interest me at all.

PGR3 was a hoot online with the OCUK lot but as an offline game I thought it was a bit meh... 8/10 online because of the people but 5/10 offline, maybe I'm not a racing game kind of person, after all PGR3 does lack weapons.

Kameo was suprisingly enjoyable and very pretty to look at. 6.5/10

Condemned is just fantastic, I loved it, was a very scary game. 9/10

COD2 I really liked, very atmospheric and engrossing. 9/10

PDZ - yet to play, it's sat on my shelf a long time now.

Oblivion - huge world, good graphics and I enjoyed as much as I played. I intend to finish it one day but it kind of went on a bit and I began to get bored - that said I spent a huge amount of time playing it. 8/10

All in it was a pretty decent if short line up. Was King Kong a release title? I played it and found it very short and not much more than OK. I guess a 5/10 for that.

I forgot Full Auto. It was glitchy but I liked it, maybe it is because it had BIG guns and rockets and mines. Bit of a marmite game I think. I prefer it offline to PGR3 so 6.5/10
