The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

That sucks, I've had a single black screen since February, on one set of drivers, unfortunately that black screen was at boot so was a pain in the arse to resolve. But apart from that, my games have been fast and smooth. Have you got a different machine you could try it in? Or try it in Linux?

No.

Why would i install Linux?

Driver issues are what will stop me going with AMD GPU's. It's really a shame because they have had many, many years to get a grip on this and it has shadowed them more or less constantly to varying degrees.

FWIW I've had 4 different 5700 XT GPUs and none of these have had issues except maybe for high coil whine.

Aorus 5700 XT
Gigabyte Windforce 5700 XT
Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT
Powercolor Red Devil 5700 XT (current)

Why have you had 4 different cards... for separate builds or did you replace them for one build?

Yes because nobody has issues, your experiences are everyone else's, yet official AMD has tried to fix it to no avail.

Hence 'FWIW'. I wasn't stating that issues don't happen, just that I haven't had any, just like people state they have issues. It helps to build a better picture. If all we had were people telling us about issues and everyone who had cards that had no issues kept quiet then it would paint a pretty bad picture.

Also your reply makes no sense. I posted MY experience and somehow you read that as EVERYONE??

It does not say that at all.

Bit of double standards there. Just because you think he means "Yes because nobody has issues, your experiences are everyone else's" doesnt mean everyone thinks the same as you about that post ! ;)

Yea I've had a few different builds. Oh I forgot to add I've had a Reference design Asus 5700 XT so 5 in total :p

Aorus I returned because it was running hot on idle and the zero RPM mode was constantly triggering on/off.

The Gigabyte and Sapphire had serious coil whine.

The reference card was put into a custom loop and run really well, coil whine was pretty poor though.

The Red Devil I have now is a good card, performs well even at 4K and coil whine isn't terrible.

Sorry, a bit high on the ****** off energy this morning.

Just won't touch another 5700, Radeon is fine when they work, my last 3 GPU's were Radeon, but i can see me going Nvidia.

When you say "isn't terrible" (lol) do you mean it's still noticeable? That would drive me nuts... I haven't heard coil whine since the early 2000's. :D

In my experience coil whine is there on pretty much all modern GPUs, you just don't hear it because the fans drown it out. It's a big issue if you go for a watercooled build which runs quiet, the coil whine is very noticeable.

It's not bad on the Red Devil because a) my PC is under the desk to reduce some noise and b) it doesn't really appear until I'm gaming and the fans do a good job of being louder.

I've had cards in the past that would make awful coil whine even scrolling around Chrome.

This is a well known problem, it is a driver issue.
Its not as simple as a driver issue, the vast majority of people don't have issues. If the drivers were bad, they would affect a lot more/everybody.

Look at the linux forums, literally no examples of blackscreens, same as windows 7, it appears to be a windows 10 issue. Whilst AMD probably still need to resolve, they may not be at fault.

I can't recall what you've already tried, but i've built/sold over 10 pcs with various radeon cards this year, including many 5700XT without one having a single issue. I appreciate some people do have issues, but they are quick to blame AMD rather than look at their own equipment etc.

What settings do all use to undervolt the 5700XT any guides?
Just drop mine to 1050mv within the radeon software and played games, if it crashed i upped to by 0.010mv untill it stopped crashing. I've been running 2100mhz at 1100mv for months now.

You can also lower peak clock speed and lower voltage even firter for minimal performance loss but cooler and quieter operation.
