The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

The hike is quite large, some of the custom cards are meant to be RRP. i.e circa £379.99.

The Red Devil Special ED varys wildy in price from £450 all the way up to £500 (RTX 2070 Super territory).

Can't be good for AMD. Supply and demand for the retailers though I guess.

Im attempting to steer well clear of new cards until cyberpunk launch, the pricing is really helping me xD

The price in the USA is as expected, which means its one of 2 things. Our tax/exchange rate or price gouging because they can.

Even with exchange and tax, the prices aren't right. But that's okay, they're saving me money, because now I'll just stick with my reference card and wait for the 5800 or 5900. More money for me, less for them! :D

Yes its awful for AMD that their 5700Xt is virtually on par with a card that costs £100 more...

As for supply check out the thread on OCUk's reccomended 2070s...

It's like 1984 in this forum sometimes.

Eh?

Not sure how you read that, what I'm saying is the cards are great, but retailers have jacked up the price. Which means people could choose Nvidia instead when same price as RTX 2070 Super for example.

Whereas at RRP the 5700XT is a good choice. Prices are way over atm. So not great for AMD. It isn't their fault. Hopefully the prices settle soon.

Apologies I misread what you posted.

Exchange rate is fine as used to be. $1.21, which is eliminated by the VAT. (FYI MSRP doesn't include US regional sales tax).
However what we have here is AMD doesn't sell directly on it's shop the 5700XT any more as it did. Nor Nvidia is selling to UK 2060S/2070S/2080S directly.

Hence the prices have skyrocketed at the stores for all those products.
Some might complain about weak pound, but against the USD hasn't been any big change.
But the issue is with the €. Which just in the last 2 months the pound lost 10% of it's value against it and some importers are buying in € not $, or are owned by parents companies in EU.

However you will find that UK has pretty descent prices. The 5700XT Pulse goes for £425. (MSRP $410) In EU you cannot find it lower than €470, even if today's exchange rate is £1-€1/€0.9 on many banks, after conversion charges.

I've picked up the Red Devil Special Edition for £459.99. Not cheap but there market is terrible at the moment. Alternatives were older tech, second hand with no warranty or spend £100+ more for a little more performance.

This seemed a good middle ground. Upgrade later to a 2080Ti level card.

Seems bonkers to me considering that £475 *has* been enough to get a 2070S.

Sure, an AIB 5700XT at ~£400 I'm behind as it sorts the caveats and the performance difference isn't that much for £75-100. But you're talking £15-40.

Each to their own though.
But all we're doing is encouraging the inflated prices.

I don't disagree but given that I consider Nvidia overpriced too buying their card would also encourage it. I needed to buy something, I do favour AMD and they offer the slightly better value if still higher than I would like. Bear in mind this is high end 5700XT, the equivalent three fan custom 2070S isn't cheap.

The only saving grace is that, although buy in is higher, second hand prices are also higher. I'm hoping when I come to sell I'll get back more towards the next card, maybe! ;)

While i can see your point it's not like for like. The Red Devil is a top end cooler and to get a Nvidia equivalent on the 2070s would cost a good chunk more. The 5700xt probably has more performance to come being a new Architecture so nothing really to lose. The Red Devil from what i have seen is one of the quietest running cards on the market from either side ever so another plus. Could it be doing with being a bit cheaper yea for sure.

Gaming noise levels with the default BIOS are incredible; only 31 dBA is a monumental improvement over the AMD reference card, making the Red Devil quieter than the majority of NVIDIA RTX custom-design cards at the same time. Once you switch to the "Quiet BIOS", the Red Devil goes even quieter—whisper quiet even when fully loaded, which is incredible. The second BIOS does run slightly lower voltage, clocks, and power limit, which suggests it is properly fine tuned for the capabilities of the cooler. I think this is the quietest AMD Radeon graphics card I ever tested, especially when you take its performance levels into account—good job, PowerColor!
