The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

Just upgraded my HIS HD 7950 to a Powercolor Red Dragon 5700 XT. It's bottlenecked by my i5 3570k (which I'll be upgrading to a 3700x) but I'm really impressed for now. It's driving my Samsung SJ55W 34" ultrawide and I'm extremely pleased with it.

I hope you used latest DDU to wipe out the drivers, installed 19.12.2/3 and you aren't using MSI AB yes?

When I built computer, don't want to lose all my downloaded games lol have all Windows updates up to date

You can always back them up and restore even if they are from steam.
Sorry but BSODs are windows, RAM or CPU related. Nothing to do with AMD GPUs these days. Crashing a game yes, but not the windows or the whole system.

You have other underlying issues there, which need to be resolved. Hence first step is fresh installation of latest windows. Then work from there.

I'll do fresh install, as Windows is on Seperate SSD. Worth a try. Also mouse lags and real slow in bios or safe mode.

Hi.

Just finished a build with a MSI 5700 XT Mech OC.

Having issues..

First was high gaming temps at 85 degree. Followed some undervolting guides and got it down to 75 degree.

Main issue currently is either on stock or undervolt I get black screened during gaming (mainly in fortnite). Can still hear audio but nothing on display.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this before I send it back :(

Rowan88, I wish I knew the answer to this. I get 4 second bursts of blank black screen which happens with any game or application other than a bare desktop. I found using 19.12.3 reduced the frequency.

Well I have a sapphire 5700xt and have had shocking performance, worse than my 1060 I had , stuttering all over the place no matter the settings etc.
Tried clean install windows and driver removal and nothing.

Read up a bit and decided to try switching from PCI 4 to 3 in bios and has finally got rid of the stuttering in all games bar 1 of them.

Paired with a 3700x I was expecting a lot more.
I manage 40fps tops in Warhammer total war most on ultra at 1440 it was 24-27 before I switched PCI around
Halo reach I get 70 FPS now from 50-60

Send it back
And replace with what? Still need freesync as bought freesync monitor. Do the 5700, 5500Xt and 5500 have same issues?

I am going to try some things I saw online last night:

Making sure I am using two seperate PCI-E cables for my PSU and not sharing the one.
Using DDU and downgrading to an older driver (can't remember the version but was months ago)
Disabling XMP on the memory in BIOS
Changing PCI in BIOS from 4 to 3.

If none of these work then apart from waiting (god knows how long) for a fix then I guess I will be changing gpu.

Might even swap over to a 2060 as a lot of people said that runs perfect. But because we have a Freesync monitor does this GPU support that?

Go to Settings -> Display -> Expand the Overrides -> Set Swing 1 and PreEmphasis 2. Restart.
And buy better cables.

a) If you are using PCIe 4.0 on any motherboard other than X570 you will have issues.

b) TWW1 is a pile of crap on Ryzen CPUs. It tries to run on the last thread but never utilizes it. TWW2 uses last core-thread and is far superior. When playing this game (TWW1) turn off SMT with Ryzen Master, is the only solution.

c) Use latest bios & chipset drivers. When you update BIOS you always have to update the chipset drivers.

d) Which GPU drivers are you using?

e) Don't use MSI AB, especially with 19.12 drivers, as they aren't supported.

f) Use AMD overlay (ALT+R or activate it by default) and observe your GPU. If it doesn't hit 98% at least, at high clocks (thermal depending) then you have CPU/RAM bottleneck.

g) If you plan to tweak the 5700/XT NEVER EVER raise the Power Limit from 0%. It just adds power-temperature.

Let us know how it goes.

Better cooling doesn't fix the black screen issue though. When you go on AMD Forum (Graphics) and type in 5700XT Black Screen there are hundreds of threads regarding this issue all with different tips but not all work.

its the driver - i get the same with the division 2. Totally random crashes. If thats the game you play then you'll need to change cards I guess.
