I had a FTW3 Ultra, there has been many EVGA cards breaking lately when they are being pushed to their limit, mostly 3090s so it got me a bit worried.

Besides that Ive wanted to get one since release but never found one in stock until now, but I did managed to get a 3080 around Chirstmas. It is a great card but at 1440p I find Radeon 6000 to be better, plus they allow you to overclock them. Most of the people who have 3080s undervolt them so they dont consume 400 watts.

So I guess those are my reasons

Folks; I have to admit to knowing little about the current AMD range; since I've got back into PC gaming (last year) it seems all the hype has been about Nvidia 3080/3090 cards.
I'm trying to help a friend with a build and there seems to be a fair amount of 6800XT cards kicking about in stock more easily than the 3080 or ridiculously priced 3080ti; from my limited reading it looks to me like generally up to 1440p the AMD card actually looks like it performs better generally? Whats 4K performance like; and also is anyone playing Microsoft Flight Sim with a 6800XT; how does it perform?

So I bit the bullet and purchased one. Pushed my summer holiday back to next year, so decided to spend my spending money on something else!!

My old card will be going to my nephew, who couldnt have chosen a worse time to get in to PC Gaming!

Hello Everyone!

Quick random question today, may seem like a bit of a strange one - I just recently upgraded from an old Zotac 1070 (served me well for 5 years) to a new ASUS 6800XT LC OC card - everything on the surface seems good to go - drivers for Nvidia were scrubbed, fresh install for AMD etc once all older drivers and software was purged. Stress tests in timespy(etc.) went smoothly, all without any issues, GPU temps at max utilisation were no more than say 65C or so.

Enter today (day 2 of having the card installed and first test in some actual gaming) - the GPU boosts to 99%/100% utilisation in game menu's - it drops down to say 50/60% during gameplay but anytime I am near a menu, an installer or even the options menu in game, it freaks out to 99+% usage, fan curves go nuts, temps stay within the aforementioned 65C which I am not worried about - my question is surely it cannot be normal for the GPU to be sitting at 99+% utilisation from just the main game menu or options menu in game?

For the avoidance of doubt - no other overclocks as of yet, literally plug and play and the only thing changed within Radeon software was a custom fan curve and the elimination of Zero RPM fan option. Baffled by this as the old Zotac 1070 never bothered itself in a simple game menu and its rather disconcerting that the card boosts just at game launch and actually relaxes once in game.

Any thoughts?

Everyone’s using those Arctic AIOs these days, they really nailed a solid, well performing and low cost cooler. Using the 420 version here.

Its a solid product, its cheap, and they also give you a thick radiator compared to most AIOs out there.

Yeah everything works great, the Noctua Chromax fans work great and are very quiet. Im using the stock fans on the AIO simply because they can spin faster if needed.
