The Radeon RX 6800 (XT) Owners Thread.

Mine is fine...no desire to upgrade any time soon.

I run it on a 4k OLED TV but typically run at 1440p unless its on older/indie game.

Banging card..idles a bit high at about 40w though but whatevs.

Get a bett...... oh wait, never mind.
I was on a 5600 when I tried that, the 7800x3d made a massive difference.

My son still runs his 6800, he upgraded the rest of his system from a 5600x to a 7800x3d (I learned my lesson by then) and he was going to upgrade his gfx at the same time, after he tried his new AM5 stuff he isn't going to bother for now, 6800 is still an incredibly worthy card.

Been keeping an eye out for one of these in the MM for months, and it’s pretty clear that no-one wants to sell theirs.

Running a 6900xt here and it's going strong at 1440p. Needs a decent CPU to get full advantage of though, my 5600x feels like a lead weight at times (despite the 4.7ghz all core boost).

A lot of it depends on the game engine though. UE5 seems great so far and leverages the whole system well (Delta Force Hawk Ops). UE4 is OK but not as good as UE5 in extracting peak performance for the few titles I've played.

An old game I play on-and-off is Mechwarrior Online based on the old Crysis engine which is mainly CPU single threaded and there's only so much the GPU can drag the FPS up by.

Still got my 6800xt - running very smoothly at 3440 x 1440 @144hz so no reason to consider moving on yet.(have also 8mths of warranty left). Will reconsider when I decide to move from AM4 platform. (5900x cpu+ 32gb 3600 ram}

The 6800 series always was and still is a really good GPU, its held up very well over the years, much better than Nvidia's equivalents.

I don't necessarily disagree with this, but what's your rationale? I would have thought the 3080/3090 hold their own right now?

For the want of starting a thread apocalypse and getting this one locked out. Let me just say the 10GB 3080 has aged like milk. HUB has done on few videos where certain games have run out of vram and then tank.

Planed obsolescence. The 3070 and 3080 don't have enough VRam, they have as said above aged like milk, the 6800 series having 16GB are still perfectly good 1440P AAA cards, the 3070 is often a problem even at 1080P.

The 6800 XT will outlast the 4070, how about that?

The 3090 is fine but that was a £1500 card, my £470 7800 XT matches or beats it. The 4070 doesn't. It will also age like milk.

Where abouts have HUB said anything about the 3080 10gb? Most of the stuff is usually in reference to 3070/8gb and even then, it's still an extremely small amount of games effected and most of them are ones that launched in an awful state then got patched/fixed e.g. TLOU.

If you have kept up to date, it's the other way round, a 3080 more often than not in newer games from the last year is matching/beating a 6900xt (originally the competitor to the 3090) in raster and beats/matches a 7900xt in RT games.... RDNA 2 has aged like milk because of the lack of RT focus and lack of good upscaling, vram has not saved the 3090 or rdna 2, this gen of gpus have long ran out of grunt as evidenced in so many titles now.

Then factor in DLSS, you can literally run DLSS performance and get better perf. and IQ than you would with FSR quality....

Lack of RT grunt and upscaling for RDNA 2 is amds planned obsolescence. Arugably the lack of driver/game optimisation too given how ampere is performing better than rdna 2 in newer titles now too. Not factoring in ray reconstruction either which offers better IQ and perf too....
